2013-2014 Avatars Thread

Since 2012-2013 Avatars never actually happened, I figured we should get started on 2013-14 ones to be sure they do. So what are some ideas? As usual, I can try to use my limited skills to make rough ideas, but then it's time to let the real photoshop wizzes take over. A few of my thoughts:

1. In _____ We Trust: Each person picks a Pred player/whoever to trust in. One theme slide and a slide with that players face on a coin or something. (Dibs on In Mitch We Trust)

2. Undercats: Like Underdogs, but Sabretooth Tigers. Not sure exactly how these would look.

3. Hockey Tonk: The actual Preds have marketed this one once or twice, but it's a nice pun. Someone could shop cowboy hats on all the players, maybe with a guitar or two.

I'll keep thinking of more. Hopefully someone else has a great idea.

Im thinking this is the year for an Alfred E Newman type "Offense? Who needs Offense?" (or "Goals? Who Needs Goals?") (might be hard to personalize though)

Or to go a little far out there..

first panel is Weber with the playoff beard and the caption "Weber's Beard Sez" and then the next page is whatever player you want and a quote from Weber's beard about the player

for instance...

Weber's Beard Sez.. then show Gaustad(or Nystrom or Hendricks) with the caption "Overpaid"

Weber's Beard Sez .... Legwand ..."Draft Bust" or "Underrated" depending on which side of the Legwand debate you are on

Webers Beard Sez... Fisher.... "Married Above His Station"

Forsberg... "A New Hope"

Clune... "still here Vern"

Beck... "not the guy who sang Loser"

you get the idea...

I had an idea last week for "The Walking Preds" where the avatars are zombified Preds players. It would definitely be cool, but I feel like it's been done already, could be wrong.

It definitely needs to relate to how lethal our offense is

When I first saw the thread title, I immediately thought of a Star Wars theme. Something like 'Return of the _____ (Predator?)' or 'The (Gold) Empire Strikes Back', along those lines. Different players could take on the aspect of characters. After all the coaches and even opposing coaches like Hitchcock have alluded to the Star Wars meme.

But I also like the beard theme. I am sure this group will come up with something really good, whatever we decided.

The scoring machine that is the Predators needs to be the highlight for sure.

Something with a lunch pail and hard hat? Blue collar theme?

Expanding on it, I guess the theme might be "Digging in the Trenches" or "Punching the Time Clock" depending on the player and image. Blue collar references for each player...

Ok after speaking with a couple posters and tossing this idea at them they got a good laugh.

How about a 3 blind mice theme. One slide an empty net with a do not enter circle and the second slide the Preds players with Ray charles sunglasses and a white cane instead of a stick.

I mean come on that is pretty damn funny considering people complaining about your scoring issues on the roster.

Ok I seriously like this idea, no joke. If this happens, I'm on board.

By the way, I remember last year we threw around the idea of "Gold Diggers" as an option. I still like it, if anyone else does.

I think Gold Diggers would actually be decent

show our 4th line each on a slide and have their contract pop up in gold below(alternatively instead of dollars, how much weight that money would be in gold)
or just have weber and then just have each year of bonus pop up one after another over and over would be pretty funny.

I had issues getting the cane to show up when I downsized an image from a game so I just put the glasses on a player's official photo. How is this?

Like the blind mice one a lot. And it will confuse visitors. The Confederate general thing might possibly, you never know, might be offensive to some people. Though when we play Columbus I do think the GDT should reflect that theme.

Good job Would it have worked with an on ice pic replacing the stick with a cane? I imagine it may have been too small after re sizing it.

Oh, I'm all for it. After all, we all know how that went - the South was stable and competent, while the North got smacked around and embarrassed repeatedly for years, constantly changing leadership and referring to stalemates as "victories" 'cause that was the best they could do, and then all of a sudden...

I like the Blue Collar (lunch pail/hard hat) or the Weber's Beard ideas best.

Since I’m avatarless, I’m not sure why I’m wading in here. But after reading PredsV82, I Will Son, and AtlantaWhaler’s comments about playing off the no offense perception, I had an idea. It’s a variation on PredsV82’s - Goals? Who Needs Goals? idea. I slightly modified it to:

First image: The Nashville Predators (or representative image) Captioned –“No Goals? We’ve Got Goals!”

Second image: Player.

Third Image: “My 2013-2014 Goals” followed with players personal goals – which can go in whatever direction you want. I’m not sure how much text you can get on an avatar page.

Examples I thought of:

Weber
1. Win Norris Trophy (crossed out - couldn't figure out how to do it here)
Still in Nashville, hmmm . . .
1. Complete Norris Trophy runner-up hat trick

Clune
1. No bad words 99.9% of the time. (stealing from his twitter)

Filip Forsberg
1. Graduate from high school (add check mark)
2. Pass driver’s test

Mattias Ekholm
1. Don’t be “absolutely horrible”

Obviously, the overall idea is their idea of “goals” isn’t even “the goals” we want more of. While also getting to have fun with the “My goals” list. Like PredsV82 said about one of his earlier ideas - it might take time because of the personalizing, but the season is still a bit far off.
