The Swedish depth is too young at forward to form a legit B team as is illustrated by your team. Give it another four years.

Karlsson - Hedman
Kronwall - Ericsson
Hjalmarsson - Oduya
OEL - Edler

Lundqvist
Enroth
Lehner

That's a very strong team. Not even close to the star power and game-breakers of a couple years back but will do some damage nevertheless. Especially as there is no pressure. Sweden will be expected to do well but gold expectations are on Canada, and to a lesser degree, the US and Russia.

There will definitely be quite a bit of pressure. Sweden is always hoping for gold and the media hype will be strong as always, especially after winning the WCs.

Also, I don't think this team is much worse than the teams we've had in previous years.

2002 had starpower, but not the depth or goaltending of this team.

2006 was a great team no doubt, with a lot of stars on forward especially, but that team also had some passengers that wouldn't make this team. Hannula, Ronnie Sundin, Bäckman..

2010 is quite similar to this team, but didn't really click and selections and coaching let us down. Since then Lidström and Forsberg (on one leg) are gone, but we've seen some very interesting young players break through especially on defense.

Will be very interesting to see if we can have a couple of young players take another step in the NHL early this season and force their way onto or into bigger roles on the team. There area lot of more or less likely candidates in guys like Brodin, Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Hagelin, Nyquist, Johansson, Kruger, Backlund, Stålberg, Söderberg, Pääjärvi, Forsberg, Josefson, Adam Larsson, Rundblad..

Did anyone not invited to the camp pre-2010 end up making the team I wonder? Can't recall.

I'm not sure if this was asked or not but I'm not sure why Enstrom or even Gunnarsson weren't invited to the camp.

Either one of those guys are much better than Tallinder, Murray and Gustafsson, in my opinion anyway.

Not a big deal but a little bit of a head scratcher to me.

Would be really cool to see Alfredsson play his 5th straight Olympic tournament.

Games, Goals, Assists, Points, Scoring position on team

1998 Nagano
4 2 3 5 #1

2002 Salt Lake City
4 1 4 5 #3

2006 Turin
8 5 5 10 #1

2010 Vancouver
4 3 0 3 #3

Total: 23 p (11g 12a) in 20 games. What an Olympian.

Murray is probably there because he's a different player, Tallinder and Gustafsson as World Championship appreciation. Well, Tallinder is also one of the few veterans I guess.

And yeah, they will make a lot more players "eligible"(whenever they need to do that) than just these camp invitees. Markstrom, Lindback, Larsson, Enstrom, Gunnarsson, Silfverberg, Zibanejad and a few more probably.

If there is only ONE hardpiped bonafide NHL star among this bunch in half a year our team is better.

Is this a bumfree team?

Sedin - Sedin - Zetterberg

Franzén - Steen - Landeskog
Söderberg - Berglund - Hörnqvist
did you just call Ryan McDonagh a bum? Does it mean something different when translated from Swedish? what are you talking about?

Of course, Alfie might not be up for it, but you'd think the Detroit guys would convince him otherwise since many of them will be going.

Also, doesn't feel right playing OEL as a RD. Does he ever play his off side in Phoenix?

The Swedish B team would be ok in the NHL but overmatched in the Olympics. It's amazing what national pride will force out of people's computers.

So little respect for the rest of the world. Focus on your A team because they could easily not medal at all let alone capture gold.

Calm down dear. Note that I wrote"with a handful of luck". Anything can happen in one off games. I wouldn't rank that B-team above any team in the top 7, though maybe on par with the Swiss.

Read these boards, 30 is the new 40. NHL.com talks about Hjalmarsson and Enström as possible veterans -- they're 26 and 28..

Between Zibanejad, Silfverberg, Nyquist and Backlund I like the chances of one 55+ pt scorer next season. Which would be a boost to our top9 at the Olympics.

Haha, yeah. Other than Alfredsson, we have a couple of players in their early 30's in the Sedins, Zetterberg and Kronwall who already have a gold medal and will be among the leaders on the team. Real shame we brought those over-the-hill plugs back in 2006, like Sundin, Forsberg, Alfredsson, Lidström and Jönsson.
