Can't argue with that. It was my most stupid post ever. I deserve it.

Absolutely. It seems to be widely known that AG is a real gym rat but you can't help but think that the olympics would be even more a motivation for him to really improve his strength/skating. I think he's going to have a big year.

Man are the Leafs fans a homer bunch, half of them have Phaneuf on D instead of Subban in their starting lineup, on international ice! What a joke

To be fair it would be to Canada's advantage to force opponents to skate around his massive forehead.

I don't think they're allowed to skate during these camps, something about insurance being too expensive. I think usa hockey will use the time to review proper technique for trashing hotel rooms.

I doubt that, Canada had some intra-squad games in Calgary in 2010 (summer 2009 I guess)

Dude, I read it in the hockey news:

"They're at least going to get that chance, though camp won't be the place to earn a spot. U.S. players won't skate because of what Poile called the "ridiculous" price of insurance on NHL contracts, and the vast majority of roster decisions will be based on the first two-plus months of the 2013-'14 season."

It might e different for canada

I wouldnt be surprised that within 24 hours they have a Ranger Vs ( Any defensemen in the NHL ) Poll.

Phaneuf would be HORRIBLE on international ice.

Obviously the Habs, but I'll be much more disappointed if Canada doesn't than if the Habs don't

Also Leafs hate aside I really hope Phaneuf doesn't come close to this team, you'd have to be crazy to include him

Ya, I'd say that even if Phaneuf was a Hab. His game does not translate well to international ice.

Stop blagging on. Subby is a lock. Big big ice and skating required are paramount. Babcock has already made this clear.

As for Carey, come on dude, this is your year to show your ****. Do it man!

And Chuckie will get a serious look for the USA team.

Max is also a lock on USA. The kid is fantastic.

Fantastic year to have Olympics for our core. Perfect timing. They will be gunning for it.

Expect a very strong start from Subby, Price, Max and Chuckie this year. For Canada, Babcock has already said that it is NHL performance the first 3 months that will decide things.

He said it clearly: We need players who are performing well NOW. There is no time for possible improvement from 'name' players who are playing ****. He was very clear on this.

I like subban more than most but I'm not sure he is a lock. canada is super deep at D. I think hes more likely than not to go but I would not say a lock the way some players from other teams are.

Price needs to play his way on then play his way to get some good starts. I still think its luongo's to lose. Patches is probably the best lock we have ( aside from diaz and markov, knock on wood), Galchenyuk is 50/50 depending on how he plays. Still pretty good, there are going to be lots of guys on lots of teams trying to play their way onto olympic rosters.

anyone who doesnt think subban is a lock for team canada are out of their minds, and its rly not to sound like a homer, the kid is just that amazing, theres absolutely no way he doesnt make the team

my hope is that he plays so well all of canada will re-embrace him and his street cred sky rockets again from when it kept taking hits because of all these players cry babying

carey on the other hand... not so sure.. i thought he had a serious shot at this thing a couple of years ago but now it looks like the next olympics after sochi is the one where he might land that number 1 if he works hard at it

also think pacioretty is a LOCK for team usa, ..would be amazing if galchenyuk made it tho too

There are a lot of good Dmen invited but from what I get this will be a result driven selection. I know they said it'll be based on the first few months of the season, so really, if that was truthful, nobody is a shoe in.
My money however is on Keith, Doughty, PK, Pietro, Weber and the last spot will be between Hamhuis and Seabrook. As much as I love Hamhuis, I'd pick Seabrook for a more defensive minded Dman with more sandpaper and size to his game.
I think that would be the perfect mix of puck moving, offensive, speed, mobility, agility, defensive, and physicality skills. But we'll see how they all play during the season.
Where I think PK might suffer is that the bar is really high now that he just won the Norris, a drop in his play might be viewed as a weaker start. But his experience with Team Canada plays in his favor as well I'm sure.

Should have kept Kristo...Pacioretty-Gally-Kristo at the olympics as a 3rd line would be unbelievable to witness. [Although many natural choices ahead of Kristo even if he develops properly].

Did I miss something? Kristo has been invited to the US evaluation camp? I mean, he'll have to be lights out to even just have a chance at making the team. And nothing is less sure that he'd even make the Rangers this year. He will have all the chances to do so....but not sure it will happen, as good as I think he already is.
