Thanks to some contracts handed out this off season, I don't see twins taking anything less than what they are currently making. Maybe a 0.1 mil discount and re-up at 6 per. Hoping for 2-3 more years.

They took a pretty sweet hometown discount last time around.. I'm sure they will do it again this time. But I wouldnt blame them if they took a higher salary for fewer years this time

Also what I'm thinking. They have expressed a desire to do short-term deals until they're done. Keeping them at a similar cap hit to where they are now is a hometown discount in any event.

A much older Iginla got a 1 year deal with 6M and everyone has the Sedins pegged around the same?

Seriously folks, their market value is well north of 7M, especially on a shorter 2-3 year deal.

And i assume whenyou say Sweden, you mean Detroit Red wings. We better trade them by the trade deadline or they'll go to Team Sweden... err detroit.

Id think they'd do a 2 or 3 year deal at 5+ and then jet back to Sweden.

If the twins still believe in the core and the team and Gillis we're probably looking at 3 years 20 million.

They don't strike me as money hungry players, I mean they both donated over 1 million each to the Children's hospital so money clearly isn't what motivates them

Gillis for all his faults, has been really good at getting people to sign for less than market value when they come to Vancouver

Burrows, Kesler, Edler, Hamhuis, Garrison, Twins all took less than market value to play here so.. /shrug

3 years @ 5 million is my guess.

They signed their 6.1 million$ deals after being PPG players, I have a feeling these guys will continue to be a fr*##*( bargain

6-7m per player, per season, easily. Could even be over 7m each.

Though, Crosby could get 12m+ caphit on open market if wanted to leave Penguins. His contract is such a steal.

That would put them in the 7-8M range if they wanted on the open market.

If they sign for less than 7M that is a hometown discount.
They're already on a hometown discount at 6.1M I could see them getting the same caphits, if not a little lower for 2-3 years.

They seem like they might be fairly loyal to the Canucks organization but... if I'm them, my attitude right now is, we'd like to see how this season goes, how the Luongo circus shakes out, how the new coach works out and how the team looks 6 months from now before we decide to sign the remainder of our careers in Vancouver.

If the Canucks don't look sharp this year, why wouldn't they consider going somewhere else to win?

They want to finish their careers in Sweden, so no.

Short term deal at approximately 6M per year is what were looking at. Anything north of 7M or open market price we'll have to part ways (depending on the cap of course).

Well, last time they signed extensions they donated $1M to Vancouver's Childrens hospital...maybe this time they sign for $5M and they'll leave the donating to the Canucks.

Also, I think they mentioned going back to Sweden a long time ago but the reality is they both have young kids and I don't think they want to have to pull them out of school so that they can go back to Sweden.

And in Future News:

The Sedins take a massive hometown discount for the betterment of the team and sign for 3 years at $4m per, only to be panned league-wide by fans and media for being gutless and soft during negotiations.

Sedins will sign three-year deals for between six and seven mil. Then they will refuse to waive their NTCs in the last year, even though the Canucks are lousy and need to rebuild. Then they will sit out half the next season before signing with Toronto. It is known.

Well actually they signed 30.5M contracts for which they donated 0.5M each. The Sedins have always been undervalued by the general population and it always seemed to me that the donation was part of the negotiations. Not written, but something like give us our fair contract (turned out to be a steal) of 5 x 6M with an extra 500K to donate to charity. They made that donation almost immediately after the deal and though in any case was a great gesture and show of generosity, it also seemed to serve the purpose of making the whole town feel ok about their big contracts for "soft" players.

Anyway, I am expecting likely a 2 year, 7M per deal and with the current cap as well as there numbers, it makes sense (though secretly hoping for 5.5M).

I see Daniel signing at $6.8 million for three years and then Henrik signing right after for $6.9 million.

Just kidding. Of course they'll get the same amount.
