How's it determined which teams are negotiating? Sounds crazy.

Not a fan of the kid but doesn't hurt to have another talented prospect. Years away from an NHL spot, but probably won't ever be a real option at the NHL level.

Sign Stepan, Zuccc, Mashinter and this Crafty Dwarf as well. His Contract Will not count this year anyways. Next year we can unload some scrubs with expiring contracts and see what hoppens. He could become a free asset without costing anything really.See no harm in that.
There are however a lot of potential SIGNINGS for next year within the system now. Skjei, Nieves, Fogarty (doubtful), Andersson, Spelling come to mind.

I don't care who, it's the offseason baby, sign everyone!

Obvious question, why wasn't this Sergey drafted?

Yeah there's no way he's 5'8". More like 5'6". Still worth a gamble, though.

And throwing money out the window on guys, the vast majority of which, will never sniff the NHL. Not directed at you, but some people forget that in NHL GM's actually have to concern themselves with budgets and helping their team make money.

Not worth it is Zuccarello remains with the team, IMO.

It's a better use of a contract than Jason Wilson or Michael Kantor.

Why? Who says Zuccarello is around in 4 years by the time this kid may be ready?

Would have no problem giving him a contract. High skill with great wheels and a great compete level. Maybe we luck out and he grows a couple inches. Ya never know.

Exactly. And if he is, and both are NHL players, who says we can't trade one or the other?

Eh, this kid is 18. No telling what the roster will look like when he's ready.

Even if he doesn't grow, there are small players in the NHL. If he can skate well and smart he would be fine. Add skill to the organization.

Small players, sure, but 5'6 is very small. Even most "small" guys are still 5'8 or bigger. His awareness and escapeability are both very good, but he's going to have a long road ahead of him.

Just like any late round pick or undrafted UFA though. Elusiveness is a big deal in the NHL today.

5 foot 6 doesn't stop Rocco Grimaldi from being a legitimate NHL prospect, don't know why it would this kid.

If he has a big scoring year in the OHL this season teams will be all over him.
