I don't think Williams is a goon or a dirty player, and he said the right stuff afterwards about how it was not intentional and he hopes Saku gets better. So I don't want to see cheap shots on him or anything, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Souray or Downey start a fight with him... just like a "be more responsible with your stick, kid. That's our captain." kind of thing.
Hit him with bodychecks. Kinda like Tucker getting demolished by the Sens all game. Williams isn't a fighter, so unless he fights Koivu, it's against the hockey code to just jump the guy at this point. He said all the right things, and I'd like to see him go over and check on Koivu pregame. We probably wouldn't hear about it, but it would be classy.
No, he won't fight anyway. But if he's being careless again with his stick, drop the gloves against him, instigator or not, he needs to get the message. For the sake of everybody else playing the game.
Of course part of me favors the guy being drawn and quartered, but the rational part [7%] points to G1 against Buffalo where Koivu's stick rode up on a Sabre. It sort of sent the message that, hey, it happens. I don't think JW's a player to single out, it wouldn't accomplish anything. You want to do something, make him a -2 tonight.
