Since Pronger went down, really. This system is not for mistake prone youngsters still learning the pacing of NHL hockey. I don't care who we had in net, these last two seasons were gonna be rough either way since there were no real adjustments. The players changed but we just went full steam ahead and it cost us in tons of bad on ice decisions. It's now or never as far as it coming together with mainly the same team. I'm fiendin for this **** to start. i'm dyin ova here

Even with Pronger they weren't doing that well especially since Pronger was dealing with injuries (back, wrist, knee) before he got the career ending injury. He was a loss from a minutes perspective and we still have to fill his big skates...but Pronger was starting to break down and not be as effective.

Quote:
The 36-year-old Pronger has 25 points in 50 games and averages 22 minutes, 29 seconds of ice time. He has sat out 18 games this season because of injuries.

"We miss him in the lineup," coach Peter Laviolette said. "The fact that he's not in there, everybody gets concerned about that. He plays 25 minutes, 22 minutes because we're not pressing him that much.

"He's a guy that does a lot of things for us and plays in a lot of situations. Certainly you'd like to have him in the lineup, but he's not available."

yea. your right. he was slipping but i had hopes that he'd pull it together before the concussion and throw down another 2 solid seasons before he was back at average. He was everything to this team. and he became everything to us in such a short period of time. imo, he was a top 10 defenseman in NHL history (a lot of people put paul coffey in there but he was just a winger playing back) and I'm glad we at least had him for the 1 and a half, 2 years we had him. Imagine him here in his prime in the Lindros era, now that, with or without a goalie, would've been enough for that 3rd cup.

Bryzgalov's first offer surfaces

Former NHL star Alexander Mogilny confirmed to Sport-Express that he has made an offer to Bryzgalov. Mogilny is president of new expansion franchise Vladivostok Admirals, which will begin play in the KHL this season. There are two potential problems: (1) Mogilny firmly acknowledges that his club may not be able to pay Bryzgalovís required rate and (2) Vladivostok is in the middle of nowhere. Vladivostok is now home to the KHLís eastern-most club. The city of 592,000 people, while home to the Russian pacific fleet, is situated on the border between North Korea and China.

That's basically an exile. Also, holy ****, there's a team there? The travelling must make Edmonton's situation look peachy.

It's probably better for them that they can't pay Bryz in advance.

I honestly don't think it's to far off. I love the fact that he can't get a job in the NHL, wasn't invited to Russian Olympic camp and can land a job in the KHL. It's to bad that he is getting 1.4 million a year for the next 14 years, but serves the flyers right for such a stupid contract. I hated the contract when it was signed and I love to say I told you so.

Jeez, the guy is gone now. Finally!! Can't we just let this thread fade into the depths of this board and stop bringing it to the forefront?

And now I am a hypocrite...

I don't think it is that bad, it's just the distances. Their closest opponent is in Khabarovsk. 645 kilometers. To Moscow? 6410 kilometers.

Yup, he also played a main character (I can't remember his name) on The Wire which is about crime in Baltimore through different perspectives.
