Tried the 21st amendment Back in Black. Interesting. Looks like a cross between Guinness and Newcastle. Tastes like Guinness at first, then the hop and alcohol hits and it reminds me of something between a Bender and Furious.

Bought some Wisconsin beers back from a quick jaunt across the border over the weekend. Have a couple different New Glarus (Spotted Cow and Two Women) among others - did one of those create your own six packs.

I'm planning on getting some alcohol tomorrow to last me for the next few weeks or so.

Any recommendations? I mostly get Reyka vodka, and while I am more than willing to go for that again, I'd like to change things up a bit. Maybe another vodka or rum or something.

The girl loved it so much she just bought us tickets to the one next weekend too. Not really sure what the details are for that beer fest.

Boom Island's Hoodoo was still my favorite but I liked some of Indeed's beer. Helps I knew the guys serving so we got VIP access from behind their tent.

Good ****, but not a good **** the next day haha.

Twin Cities Beer Fest i guess.

Not nearly as interesting as the Dabbler, but I like to drink beer so it should be fun.

Try rum and coke. Pretty tasty, yet sweet.

If you like hoppy ales, the Twin Cities have quite a few good to great ones: Furious, Masala Mama, Saga, Size 7, etc.

Probably haven't tried enough to formulate a good opinion. I suppose I like the Alaskan White and Blue Moon.

I'll make sure I'll try some of those when I'm up in the Twin Cities.

Oddly enough, I just looked at the reviews of some of those and found the same picture on someones avatar on another sight reviews those beers. It was whoever used to have the guy on the beech in the red banana hammock holding a gun. I want to say rynryn, but I'd probably be wrong.

Not close either.

Picked up some of the New Glarus' Strawberry Rhubarb over the weekend, will get around to trying it one of these days...

someone else on HF boards has it now--saw it a while back in general.

beers. man i haven't had much opportunity lately what with wrangling the kid and ramping up my cardio but i had a vanilla stout the other night that someone shared with me (a small glass out of a bomber) fantastic. really strong. very sweet and maybe i'd get sick of it drinking a bunch but for one little grain belt glass full it was beautiful. three floyds i think?

Well, all I know is that some beers are dark, and some are light. Looking at the ingredients of the Alaskan white, apparently I am more drawn to the belgian wheat? I have no idea. Its been a while since I've drank heavily. And by a while, I mean never.

Yeah wheat beers are pretty light and tasty for summer drinking.

A good gateway beer is Newcastle.

YES. MOON MAN. I've drank at the NG brewery three times. Oh dear lord it is glorious. The second time, a few of us tried to see if the ball room was open just to chat inside (it was cold)...to our luck the door was OPEN and there were FOUR kegs on tap. We used our mini beer tester glass we had all got and started to shoot beer. This is a fond memory.

They are adding something like a 20 million dollar add on to the brewery.

Also, NB Ranger IPA, Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, and I've actually been down with the Corona lately.

Tried this today. It's OK, very easy to drink. But I would have liked a bit more flavour.

A bit too bland for my taste.

Finally got around to having Surly Wet this weekend. I knew this year's was going to be different because they couldn't acquire the hops, but wow is it bad this year compared to years past.

Northbound Smokehouse's Fresh Hop is very good so if you've got the time to head over there soon, I'd highly recommend it.

As for the liquor stores, good to finally see Ballast Point and Green Flash. If you can find any, Ballast Point's Sculpin is probably one of the best bottled IPAs around.
