You're not getting Justin Schultz, you can have Nick Schultz for free though.

Only if the Oilers add RNH/Hall and Eberle.

Franson outscored Schultz, Edmonton needs to add.

A 5 year NHL vet outscored a first year player by a few points? WOW

That's like saying Kadri is better because Duchene has been in the league longer and Kadri will get better.

They(Franson and Schultz) were drafted 3 years apart. They both have upside, not just one. Get real.

Not saying that Schultz will be better or not.
But why should we add when its the Leafs that made this thread?

We don't want to trade Justin, and you guys want us to add to get Franson?
Might as well close up the thread.

Franson is good and has value. With that said Schultz appears to have more value and upside. The Oilers wouldn't trade Schultz due to the nature of how they got him and certainly not for a player with good but less upside.

J Schultz chose Edmonton as a free agent, when money was no issue. That's a big deal for a team like the Oilers who've had so much trouble attracting talent in the past. J Schultz is nearly untouchable just because of the optics.

People are acting like Franson is nothing. He finished 8th in points (defense) and is only 24-25.

I could see Franson to EDM. But more around a guy like Marincin and a 1st

Not nothing. Just not Schultz or Marincin and a first. Maybe Marincin and a 4th if the Oilers needed him. They don't unless you have interest in Nick Schultz.

As a fan of neither team, lets just work with the premise of the two of them being exactly the same value, perfectly fair. For kicks. What is the motivation for Edmonton to do this then? Toronto's is obvious, but Edmonton has Schultz signed to on ELC, where does their desire to do this come from?

Well Kadri posted some of the most stat skewing PDO in recorded history, so that's a pretty extreme comparrison to make.

...seriously? I can't tell if you're serious about Justin or if you're actually talking about Nick.

Franson for Justin?!?!?! Okay. But the '?' Is gonna be Gardiner, Kadri, and a 1st...and you take Nick Schultz's contract too.

Nick for Franson? Yeah that could work. Except Edmonton still has too many d-men. How about we flip Potter your way as a very reliable #7 (and decent #6 based on last year) for a checking line grinder?

Yah that package gets you someone a hell of alot better than Schultz. Gardiner and Shultz's value isn't that wildly different and Kadri and a 1st is a massive casm in value.

We're talking about Nick Schultz right?

I'm for it if the Oil can take Liles too.
