I believe what being talked about is Cody's father. Overbearing and creating issues.

Haven't heard anything of the sort.

He's worth more than Kassian

He has good value, obviously, and won't be getting traded. In regards to his "issues", I believe some of what is being referred to here stems from his agent, who is allegedly making contract negotiations difficult. To extend the allegation train even further, Hodgson's father was supposedly unhappy with his two previous agents and influenced him to make a change, again.

We would only upgrade on C if he were to be traded.

If our young centres make ridiculous progression, then he could be traded for a winger of equal value.

I was referring to the poster citing the 'shine coming off' the Sabres-Hodgson relationship as being a Nucks fan. AFAIK there are no actual reports of any problem between the Sabres and Hodgson.

Nucks fans seem to post more about Hodgson than Sabres fans.

I'm not sure how credible he is, but there was a Buffalo reporter who indicated that Hodgson's agent was being problematic in negotiations and Sabres fans should be worried. Can't remember his name but he likened it to the Hasek situation (though I have no idea what happened there).

Personally I don't see any reason that Sabres fans should be worried, but if I were them I would not be expecting a smooth negotiation.

If it is anyone from the Buffalo News then IMO it has zero credibility and zero insight into the situation. Anyone else and I would be willing to, and interested to, consider the source / quote.

That's because a lot of Canuck fans became emotionally invested in Cody and have felt slightly spurned by his agent and father kind of forcing the Canucks into trading him out.
From most reports Cody was well liked by his peers, but that's not how most fans feel. That's why when his name comes up we are first to explore the conversation.

I think the Sabres will try to get him on a bridge type deal, say something like 2 years 5.5 total. 2.75 cap hit. It's a minor cap number raise but most likely a huge pay increase for him. It also keeps him RFA and allows him to cash in later if he continues to become a solid 2nd line centre scoring 50-75 points a year.

Paul Hamilton from WGR had a poor opinion of Hodgson's agent Rich Winter and stated he wouldn't be surprised if the Sabres had trouble reaching an agreement with him. Winter was also Hasek's agent. He didnt indicate any inside knowledge of the current negotiation, just his opinion on the agent and what could transpire.

Hodgson will sign no problems. He seems to do and be at every event the Sabres hold for charity and other events. Ennis didn't sign until September last year... So i'm not to worried about a deal getting done.

Also Canuck fans need to let this guy go. He goes from Godgson to Garbage after he left the organization.. It's quite sad tbh.

Yup, that's what I was referring to. I took him saying "they've gotten nowhere" as inside information instead of speculation, but I suppose it could be either.

Nah this is the Buffalo news. Winter Played hardball with the Sabres almost 20 years ago so he MUST be doing it again. Buffalo News reporting at its finest.

This. I think he develops into a solid borderline 1-2 C. Could be a 1, or could be the solid #2 if/when Grigorenko develops

It's not the arbitrary "third line" role that led to him being traded, it was the 30% offensive-defensive zone start ratio (because Kesler got all Malhotra's vacated offensive zone draws) and mediocre linemates.

Worst case scenario, he's beating up on other team's third lines, a-la Vanek-Roy-Afinogenov in 2007 or Kesler in 2011.
