Completely understand, just noting...

SK, Burmi, and now Kovi. That's a big deal. I wonder how/if Bettman addresses it.

Not sure I would lump SK in with those two. His time in NSH was coming to an end. I think he would have been traded if Poile could find a taker. He had little value to the organization. Burni (i suppose) and Kovi (for sure) had value.

I agree on overall value, but all three had contracts still in place with their respective teams, even though there was mutual agreements with the GM's. One way or another, they all bolted.

It wouldn't be so bad if the KHL was a super legitimate league, but really it's just a bunch of shady rich Russian oil men.

So what you're saying is, contracts don't actually mean anything to him, he just wants what he wants when he wants it. Lamoriello signed a contract neither side had any intention of offering. Just disgraceful all around, and a slap in the face to the integrity of the league.

I really wonder what this does for the "gentleman's agreement," because the KHL actively pursued a player under NHL contract and signed him to a deal while under NHL contract, if what you say is true. That's straight-up defiance of the agreement, and means war, IMO.

You have to remember that almost all the Russian players were playing in the KHL during the lockout. They got a taste of the league and being able to play at home. The NHL screwed themselves with the lockout. They gave the KHL an opportunity to try to convince guys who were under contract to them during the lockout to come back. That is what happened with SK. He didn't want to comeback after the lockout ended but had to because of his contract. Would Kovy have even thought about going to the KHL had he not played there during the lockout? IDK but the NHL did it to themselves.

and Kovalchuk was locked out by the owners. He had every right to sign then. He didn't have to come back in the first place.

And as long as he filed retirement papers, to me, it isn't a big deal. He gets no money. However, I think there needs to be a rule about filing and not being able to return. period.

Just when I was really feeling good about Jones solidifying our Top 4...you ruin it for me.

Those are some sick hands.

Great hands indeed, but you have to keep in mind he is doing this at a development camp. He won't be trying a lot of that against NHL-level players. Maybe in the shootout or on breakaways, but not during actual game play.

Still, the kid is going to be very good.

Per their twitter feed, the Phoenix Coyotes and Brandon Yip have agreed to a one year, two-way deal for next season...

The only way Jones wasn't getting picked by Nashville is if he was gone when their pick came up. Since he didn't go #1 or #2, losing a few more games would have just improved his draft position a notch.

Good for Yip. The fact that he had to take a 2 way 1 yr deal tells you there weren't many takers. Even though people don't like the price tag Hendricks and Nystrom are upgrades over Yip.

Like I said on the BoH board they way overthought this. What's wrong with calling it the Eastern Division? It's just like the Big Ten trying to outthink itself with Legends and Leaders.

actually it worked out best... can you imagine the angst on here if we had drafted at 3 or 2 and picked Jones leaving Drouin or Barkov on the table

or worse yet.. if we had traded up and got everyones hopes up... and then picked Jones...

A report came out today, per Dater, that the Wild's primary owner (Liarpold) says the team has lost a cool 30 million dollars over the last two years.

I would say the Suter/Parise deals are hurting.
