As far as comments on his production and +/-:

1) he's been used mostly as a shutdown guy
2) having two of the best (probably top ten) offensive d-men in the league means he's second pp
3) paired with hainsey who is a black hole of offense and has no one-timer
4) pavelec is bottom 5 starters in the league

I'm pretty happy with this contract...so I don't really give two dumps if other people think he's overpaid. He's not. Whatever. The facts support this deal, so Im Happy.

Certainly looks bad after Hamonic's contract...

Overpaid by $0.5 million.

So in other words, great deal for the Jets locking him up long term.

I don't think there was ever a chance they got him for under 6. It was always gonna be around 6.5. Don't think this deal changes it much as I think 7 years makes the 5 per a good deal. To eat 5 years of UFA at that price is a good deal.

Bit steep for the present compensation but it will be excellent value for the UFA years. Overall, fair deal.

I'm very happy for Jets' fans. First Wheeler, now Bogosian.

Does anyone know if there's a NTC or NMC to his deal?

The Jets have easily been the most busy team in the NHL this offseason. They have done a great job of keeping their team together and locking up the core to good long term deals.
With a young team intact and a new division with less travel they will be players come ufa time next summer. A playoff appearance would go towards that big time.

Jets are for sure my second fav Canadian team

This is great news for the Jets. Bogo could have gone for more, but he loves the city -- so as long as he can fund his hunting/fishing hobbies, he's happy!

Per Dreger:
13-14: 4 mil
14-15 4 mil
15-16 5.25 mil
16-17 5.25
17-18 5.5 mil
18-19 6 mil
19-20 6 mil

Pretty fair when broken down as such.

We'll have to agree to disagree.
I think Bogo is a better skater by a fairly decent amount.
I've watched a lot of Ranger games, and obviously all Jets games and I think I can give a fairly informed opinion. That said, it ultimately doesn't matter.

Well, you can always tell when school is out on HF...Bogo a bust? Worst defensman in the NHL? Good to know.

I like the deal for the Jets. Maybe a slight overpayment right now but in a few years this will look like a great contract. Bogosian is already a #1/2 defensman and will only get better.

Have somewhat mixed feelings about Bogo.

A bit overrated but at the same time i think he would be on par with McDonagh without all the injuries he has had in the NHL.

That said, could be a very good deal. And by no means bad now. Besides, McD's contract was a steal. Not the best one to compare to.

Bogo is awesome. Kudos to the Jets for tying up three key pieces in Little, Wheeler and Bogo for extended, fair contracts which will look really good within another couple seasons. Their front office should get some props for the work they are putting in.

I don't think Chevy deals with NMC/NTCs. I haven't seen him give one out yet.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Bogosian has no move for first 3 UFA years. Modified no trade for final 2 UFA years

Also, Wheeler has a modified NTC per capgeek.

So the Jets have core players Kane, Ladd, Little, Wheeler, Enstrom, Bogosian, Pavelec (ok not the greatest but he IS their #1) and Byfuglien locked up for the next 3+ years.
