Looks like Victor might force the Giants hand when it comes to deciding who to pay between him, 'Keem, and JPP.

Also, I love Eli but we can't give him credit for everything. If he could turn **** into gold Ramses Barden would be the next Plax. Sinorice Moss would've been Randy. As great as Eli is, it does take two, and Cruz is a very talented receiver.

Eli makes his receivers great, especially his tight ends. I'm not saying Cruz isn't a special receiver, because he is.

What would the trade market for a guy like Cruz be at the deadline? I really know nothing about NFL trades, when guys get dealt for 2nd round picks it blows my mind. I think Cruz can be lost if we can get value back. Make Barden the #2 and Randle or Jernigan in the slot. Eli can make up for some of these guys lesser talents.

And I might catch some flak for this, but, I fully believe that Nicks is by far and away the Giants best receiver.

When he's healthy I don't think it's even close. Big if though.

Cruz is a great player, one the Giants are definitely better with. But at the end of the day he's a slot receiver, in a great offense that helps his production.

On ESPN, @mortreport reported Giants WR Victor Cruz is expected to sign a long-term deal before training camp begins.

It doesn't. Nicks has always been the priority.

I just have no idea where the money is coming from. We don't have the space to lock up JPP, Hakeem and Cruz. And letting JPP walk would be a disaster, too.

That's a fair price. Good on both camps for getting it done finally.

Apparently this makes Cruz the 17th highest paid WR in the league.

Some guys are really, really overpaid, because Cruz is better than being the 17th WR. Makes the deal look even better.

In Reese we trust.

According to ESPN, it's 6 years / 43 mil.

Cruz's new deal includes the first-round restricted free-agent tender worth $2.879 million that he signed in June after months of stalled negotiations over a long-term extension and adds five additional seasons.

I really want to be worried about how that contract will cripple us in regards to extending JPP and Nicks. However, from the past I have learned to never doubt the Giants' management.

Glad to see Cruz locked up long term.

For the next two or three years this is a great deal.

What I'm worried about is that receivers like Cruz become less effective when they lose a step. Cruz basically becomes ineffective if he doesn't have the legs to chase the long ball. He's a good slot receiver as well, but the amount of dropped passes this past season is a bit concerning.

Won't be able to keep him, JPP and Nicks. Will have to make a decision at some point.

It's too much, but it is what it is.

We could've kept him for 2 years w franchise tag next yr for basically the same amount of guaranteed $. Reese basically got 4 years of team options & lower cap hit. This is a great deal for the Giants.

I also think this is fair for Cruz as an RFA.

They can keep all three. They have almost no long term contracts other than Eli and Beatty.

Eli does need to sign a new deal though. And the giants may be able to give him a Brady type deal, guaranteed but less total dollars. If they can get Eli for ~15 a season cap number they are in incredibly good shape going forward. But either way, they can afford Jpp, Nicks, and Cruz

And I still think if they can retain Cruz + Nicks for about 15 mil a year they are in great shape. For comparison, Calvin Johnson gets that on his own.

If anyone is interested, I do have some Giants tickets for sale. Won't be face value, but I will give you a better deal than what you can get on stubhub. Section 340, (about the 30 yard line) row 21. Can email you a picture from my seats if you want. Cash will be due when I receive tickets later this month.

9/14 vs Denver, 2 tickets +parking pass
10/21 vs Minnesota (MNF), 4 tickets
11/24 vs D*ll*s, 4 tickets

Geno Smith is off to a great start at camp while Sanchez has been up-and-down. Still early, but it'd be great to see Geno win the job outright and never look back.

As a Geno fan, I'd prefer to let him sit for a bit.
