@Ken_Rosenthal 29s
Sources: #Phillies’ Michael Young only approve trade to #Rangers. Has full no-trade clause.

It's hyperbole, yes. Because the Phils don't have what it would take.

I'm hoping that the "Phils won't eat any salary" talk is just talk. Though I can see Amaro's reason for playing hardball with Boston. There's no real reason the Phils need to eat salary on a trade with them. It's just a matter of who blinks first. Personally I'd just kick in the salary since it's a bunch of rich people's money anyway, and getting that kid will keep the rebuild to a minimum.

Here's a question for everyone. If the deal is straight up Lee for Bogaerts, would you rather do that or Lee for Bradley plus 2 of their other top 10 prospects?

Mayberry - The only real OFer this team has right now.
And we're not doing anything this season, so your point being? They all have played the position and are better than Susdorf out in the outfield.

Any trade for Young isn't going to be much, that much is pretty much known. Though, I wish he would have went to Boston in a potential Lee + deal.

They kicked the tires and have asked about him.

Why does he want to go back is what is really confusing me.

Part of me is leaning towards quantity, there are so many holes.

Yes Bogaerts is a great prospect at 1 position, but if you can fill several spots with average to maybe above average players, then you save money across the board in many areas.

Though we all pretty much knew what he meant ;

@Ken_Rosenthal 1m
That last tweet should read, #Phillies’ Michael Young only WILL approve trade to #Rangers. Left out a word. Again: Full no-trade clause.

Bogaerts hasnt played a single game in the MLB. Anyone remember Brandon Wood. He was a top 5 SS prospect. Take a look at his stats. These type of players bust alot.

2 of those players are IFers that they kind of need right now too especially if they trade Young, you didn't name 5 OFers, you named 3 OFers and 2 players that CAN play OF.

If you use Frandsen in RF/LF then he can't play 3rd or pinch hit or something like that. Yea, I know the season is toast, but I'm sure they still want to have proper players at each position

Why would Young only go to Texas where he has no spot in the lineup?

I can't believe we're debating about a random player who was up for like 4 games.

Plus Martinez is on the roster, plays CF.

My guess is being familiar with the organization / area. I think he would DH / 1B + they need a right handed bat.

Odd that Young will only to the TEX, I mean what if St. Louis wants him? That team is almost assured to go to the WS

True but Bogaerts is 20 in AAA putting up better numbers than Wood did when he was 22.

People covet prospects way too much these days mostly cause they are cheap. There's no guarantee the kid becomes an MVP. The red sox want to wait and see if they can win with Bogaerts down the road, fine, but they aren't winning this year with mediocre pitching.

A lot of this is posturing too. Just like the Phillies saying you need to give 3 of your 4 top prospects for Lee, Boston says they wouldn't trade Bogaerts for all the tea in China.

Edit: And if Young only wants to go to Texas then can we just get rid of him already? I hoped they could do a combo trade but it seems like there isn't a single person on this team that isn't a selfish *******. You're getting paid millions of dollars. Get over it and go where the team tells you.

Then why are you debating a random player who is a fodder at best? Most fans knew this type of season was coming with the age and albatrosses.

Remember Hanley Ramirez? Thats who he's being compared to, and some think he'll be better than.

Bogaerts gets traded for a guy like Stanton, not a 34 year old SP with 70m left on his contract.

Will michael young be a class b FA? if so id much rather take a supplemental pick for him than some scrub prospect.
