When a Montreal fan says that Boston is getting screwed then you know Boston is really getting screwed. I agree - no deal.

Boston has no need to shed cap space, when we put Marc Savard on LTIR the Bruins will have 2.9 million in cap space. Our top 6 will remain as is.

I think you would have to change Thorburn to Little in order to make this even remotely enticing for Boston. Just my take, and at that point I'm not sure I'd want to do this deal, especially given Winnipeg's lack of C depth.

Both teams get screwed in this trade. Boston gets screwed because they are giving up more than they're getting. Winnipeg gets screwed because they get Marchand.

pretty bad for the b's

thorburn despite having some use, has zero trade value - esp in relation to the other names... hes just a throw in

so the trade is marchand and seid for enstrom... i think enstrom is a very valuable piece in this deal - but not enough to make up the difference.

I bet most of you guys would love Marchand if he was on your team. Some people still wouldn't like him but I bet 90% would absolutely love him.

You don't understand how the cap stuff works. Putting Savard on LTIR doesn't raise our cap, it allows us to go over the cap by Savard's salary. HOWEVER, any amount we are over the cap due to bonuses, like those being paid to Iginla, are not able to use the Savard cushion, meaning we will pay a significant penalty next year...HOWEVER the cap is expected to go way up and everyone is signed but Iginla and Siedenberg...expect to lose one of those two.

According to capgeek 1.1 million over the cap. By putting Savard on LTIR it take The Bruins 1.1 out of the hole an gives them 2.9 million in cap space.

You're missing what he/she said. You can't use LTIR for bonuses so if the people who have bonuses reach them that will put the Bruins over the cap and they will be forced to pay a penalty on the cap the following year. So do they need cap space? No. Would it be better not to pay a penalty next year? Yes. So moving a contract wouldn't be such a bad idea. That said Marchand is not the guy you move and certainly not for the return the OP is asking for.

IMO Boston declines. Boston already has 7 D-men ready to go. Postma wouldn't be necessary and has little value to the Bruins. Buff isn't a Boston type player and his cost I see is far to high when we have Hamilton developing to fill the role Buff would fill. Also the value seems way off here in a 1st/2nd line winger good for 25-30g and 25-35 assists, a #2/3 shutdown defensemen and a 1st for a real good #2 PMD/PPQB a bottom pairing defensemen (who wouldn't make our roster) and a 2nd.

It doesn't fill any Boston need and is heavily favored towards the jets.

I always wonder if people look at the team they are making a proposal with to see if they can figure out what needs they have before making the proposal and then try to come up with something that fits their needs and is something that they would think is fair value.

I don't think people always do that.

Umm thinking Boston players need to get more credit on HF boards. So basically a 30goal scorer and our 2nd best D for one guy ? C'mon get real
