I wrote a letter to Ed Mangano requesting Ratner to be the developer for the new coliseum. I have never trusted the Dolan family.

It looks like the 4 initial developers have now become 2...

Plainview developer Donald Monti, selected by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano as the master developer of the Hub area in central Nassau, on Monday endorsed the Madison Square Garden Company's bid to overhaul the Nassau Coliseum.

MSG is competing with Forest City Ratner Companies for a multimillion-dollar contract to revamp and operate the aging arena...

Nassau may be telling the Islanders "don't hit the door on your way out" but they and TOH offered deals that was never profitable for the Islanders. It is easy to say Nassau and TOH wants a candy pooping unicorn on their terms only. But that is never a recipe for negotiation.

Why did anyone bid on this place with deals that "was" never profitable? Ratner and Dolan were HUNGRY for a stand alone arena....IDIOTS!

Ratner says his plan would include using Disney to train Coliseum employees.

I want to take these ideas seriously, but I can't stop thinking about the future Mickey Mouse comments!

From someone who worked on, not for, Disney out in CA, their employees are trained rigorously, tightest dress code there is, all well mannered or else, they are put through hell but guaranteed to be one hundred percent public positive. Almost to the point of annoying. Nice beyond all extremes. Mormon like.

Not a bad idea. And I absolutely hated the management but knew their roles. We called them brown shirts for a reason.

The Islanders will NOT be the anchor tenant one way or another.

No, the guy with several hundred million who said developing just an arena alone would not make money LEFT and the two billionaires politely disagreed and look forward to a chance to make money on the same site.

I wouldn't one hundred percent rule out a return in the future {maybe 98 percent}......remember, tv cameras will show the empty side of the building a few dozen times a night every hone game for years and visiting announcers will have to talk about the horse shoe each night at least once.

Maybe they can blame it on anthrax or leprosy scares and not bad construction, just to make it interesting.

Does anyone here prefer Dolan to Ratner? Just curious...

On top of all the usual reasons I don't want Dolan, does anyone believe the Nassau project is going to be given top priority while he has to fight from having MSG evicted over the next few years?

The announcement has been postponed until tomorrow due to a police officer being shot this morning.

Plus 1 on this.... yes I can't help but feel that it will be the worst possible scenario where MSG wins and moves the Ranger AHL team here.

At first, I thought this was a sick joke, considering the same exact thing happened the last time there was an "announcement".

I guess this means they'll just name the winner at the scheduled press conference tomorrow.

to be quite honest, i dont really care too much...i obviously i prefer Ratner, just for the slim possibility of moving the isles back if the BK move doesnt work out as planned...

it will also be nice to be able to check out a few games a year at the coliseum when i come home from the city

IMO it will also keep the fanbase somewhat intact on LI

the idea of a nice amphiteater on LI also sounds awesome...would love to check out some good music in the summertime and not have to drive to SPAC or PNC for a good outdoor show...(Jones Beach sucks)
