OT: Philly Interested in Leetch

Quote:
According to a report on Philly.com, Leetch is skating in an attempt to find a spot with a team in need of help on defence. Lucky for the Flyers, they qualify, and Leetch is interested in joining the club.

Don't wanna see him in a Philly uniform but more importantly, don't want to see him way over his head trying to play in the NHL while he can't keep up (like in Boston).

Philly looks like they might be in for a really rough year, I can't believe Leetch would ever want to put himself through that at this point of his career.

This is where Sportsnet got the story

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/15915886.htm

Leetch did resume working out a couple of weeks ago but his family lives in Boston. His oldest child is enrolled in school in Boston. Why would Brian leave his family to play for the Flyers in their current state? The Bruins are looking for help on D and Leetch is probably their best option.Leetch gets to stay at home, play for the Bruins and not piss off any Ranger fans by not playing for the enemy

My feelings exactly, he "owes" us as fans and this organization nothing. He has to do what he has to do, I cant be mad at him for that.

The second part of that statement I can kind of agree with.....

But I dont want to see Brian back here... mainly due to the fact that he is a shell of his former self....

Now if the 38 year old can play like Shanny is playing right now.... then we can talk contract.....

Better not go to Philly, and no we do not need him either. Believe it or not I take Pock or Rachunek, 2 young kids, over him

I wouldn't want 1990 Leetch to go to Flyers. 2006 Leetch I do not mind. Good for us, bad for them.

You just love making friends around here

I'd still take Leetch, current, over some of the guys we do have.

I'm still mixed...

I personally do not think he's through and wasn't as bad as everybody makes him out to have been last season. His days of playing 25 minutes per night, like he did often last year, are done. 20 minutes? Why not. He's a good addition to a decent team. He's not going to save a team (like Boston last year) that had trouble on the blueline, lack of forward depth and suspect goaltending at best.

But now that I think about it more, Renney would play him on the PP anyways, so he'd be wasted here.

At this point, who cares what he does. A pairing with Poti would be fun to watch

It goes without saying...Brian Leetch was great for the franchise 10 years ago but he is way past his prime. He left here and basically ignored the Rangers overtures over the summer. (from what I've read)

I don't think Leetch is coming back and hope he doesn't. Let him go to Philly and miss the playoffs for the 8th time in 9 years..

It's amazing the same people that cry about Pock not getting a shot want to bring in a 38 year old defenseman..

I have, and always will agree with SBOB on this one.

As for "wanting Leetch, but crying about the kids not getting a shot..." that's just a farce. We should dump Rozsival and Malik, and Leetch and Pock should be brought in. They can MAKE BETTER OUTLET PASSES than those two, and can actually MOVE THE PUCK. Oh yeah, another thing they're OK at is SHOOTING THE PUCK ON THE POWER PLAY.

So what was that all about?

Dumping Rozsival for Leetch would never happen..

Dumping Malik for Leetch might happen..

Waiving Kaspar for Leetch could happen...

Either way the kids aren't going to get a shot and people are going to be upset. Rozsival in the right role is an important part of this team....and you don't have to be a high school defenseman to figure that one out..
