Sokil Kyiv was Dynamo Kyiv originally. Not sure if Sokil has claim to the old name legally; would be cool to see the old name brought back if the Sokil owners were too stubborn to sell to a legit KHL ownership group someday

though, there are enough Dynamo's in the league, enough already

Does it really matters? He wasn't influential last season for Donbass and he can't play for Ukraine anytime soon anyway.

Ukrainian striker Alex Ponikarovskyy that ended sezon-2012/2013 as a member of the NHL "New Jersey Devils" was not defined with where her career will go. This player said in an interview with "Drive."
"Rest with friends and waiting for customers. Contracts with" New Jersey "I had intended to end the season, until June 30," - said Ponikarovskyy.
According to the forward, he would not mind to stay in the "Devils", especially as the coach and the team knows. However, the specific proposals of this club has not yet been reported.
"Previously mentioned with managers, but question the money was not discussed.'ll See - it depends on the proposed contracts. Guess, in June, it has become clearer - before July 4 when open market free agents" - said the player.
He also did not rule out option in the future to return to the Ukrainian "Donbass"

Rarely I agree with vorky, but this truly makes no sense. Couple of days ago Ryazantsev was excited about the trade to his first club Spartak.

What's the source for this Donbass transfer?

Is there new any real candidates besides maybe Kasyanchuk? Not really. For example, Toryanik after ripping apart PHL joined second league Austrian club. That's the sad reality.

Ouch. Toryanik was one of the guys I was thinking of. The other guys I had in mind were Ponikarovsky, Kasyanchuk and Fedotenko. Any word on their plans?

Head coach of "Donbass" Andrei Nazarov told about the probability of the attacker, "Atlanta" Nikolai Zherdev, who was exposed to the expansion draft, in the Ukrainian club.

- We in Ukraine have always been able to count money correctly. Every hockey player has a price, and our leaders, led by the club president, Boris Kolesnikov very well feel it. A year ago, "Severstal" has become the best in the league in the ratio "price - quality". And now for the title we have to wrestle "Donbass".

- That is at the right price "Donbass" is ready to give a chance to Zherdev?

- This approach looks objectively. Another thing is that in relation to Zherdev, which is pretty much in our hockey has made the word "chance" is not applicable. With the right attitude to work Nicola may be the engine of development of Ukrainian hockey and local journalists will put it on the cover of their publications.

- Who in the link you can see Zherdev?

- And here we are with you read the tea leaves ...

- Still a bunch of extreme forwards Zherdev - Ruslan Fedotenko looks intriguing.

- You are absolutely right - it is an option you can consider a hypothetical. I assure you, with the duo, a lot to prove in the NHL and the KHL, "Donbass" on the forces to become one of the most popular clubs in the Western Conference. Yes and Ukraine compete for fan with the most powerful football clubs we will be on the shoulder - Nazarov said.

I was away from civilization for 4 full days and there are no real transfer news whatsoever from Donbass camp. Very disappointing.

But anyway, Jim Brithen on official site confirms that Donbass kids will once again play in Moscow's championship. I assume he means the same Donbass-98 team as, again disappointingly, no news on forming more such teams of younger aged kids are coming out.

fedotenko interview in english

Quote:
I always wanted to play for Ukrainian fans. I was raised and studied hockey in Ukraine.

- Was it difficult to persuade your wife to come here with you?

- (Laughing). No, but I could understand her. As for me - this is a trip back home, with my native language. As for her, things aren’t so easy – new people, new language. But I am sure everything will be ok.

Of course, get it. Rather, he will almost certainly be in Top 6.

Looks like Toryanik will be playing in the KHL this season with Torpedo. Not sure why he signed in Austria, but it looks like it ended before it began.

interview with nazarov
http://hcdonbass.com/news/khl/andrey...elite/?lang=en

Quote:
Nevertheless, you would agree that no one talks about the strong roster of the Ukrainian National Team. All the local stars like forward Zherdev and defender Babchuk are playing for the Russian team. So it looks like it might be a difficult job.

- This is true, but Ukraine has very good and strong lawyers, who will carefully examine the possibility of naturalization. Let’s take Kazakhstan as an example, Canadian legionary and one of the best defenders in the KHL - Dallmen, was playing for Kazakhstan in the last World Championship. I think that we should take the same direction. Let’s mention that for today, the Russian National Team forgot about the best goalkeeper of the KHL – Eremenko. Meanwhile, the MVP of Gagarin Cup has not only a Ukrainian name but also long-term lack of game practice with the Russian National Team. Moreover, he is playing for a KHL team, which means that he is regularly visiting Ukraine. I think lawyers should be reminded of the story of my partner in “San Jose” Nabokov, who, after Kazakhstan, went to play for Russia. I am convinced that in the Eremenko case it is important to achieve a positive result. With such a goalkeeper it is easy to get into the Elite in the upcoming season. There are not many potential jokers. The best shooter of the last two Play-offs in the KHL is Michail Anisin, as well as Canadians with Ukrainian roots, who are performing in the NHL. You know, while I was playing over the ocean, they had their own Tkachuk, Haverchuk, Andreychuk, Hordichuk, Shushuk and so on (laughing). We can work in this direction too.
dont know how plausible it is, but snagging some canadians would be cool. getting eremenko? hmm...well they've got to sign him first, right? or is he implying that since donbass is in the khl, he's playing games in ukraine, and therefore is eligible to be naturalized? im assuming nazarov has the inside track on how this may work
