More than likely. Lucic is really tough. I guess people don't give him credit since Prust can somewhat hang with Looch. However, Prust in terms of style of fighting is likely at the top.

I'm hoping to get a jump on him by compiling all his posts into a book before he does, kinda like the Asylum films.

I'll be rich.

Seriously? People give importance to the fact that McCarron could be a good fighter if he makes it with the Habs?

Who cares if he fights or not? He could call a press conference tomorrow morning and say that he doesn't enjoy fighting and Lucic is in fact the biggest ***** he ever saw playing. You know what? I would not give a ****.

He was MAINLY drafted because he could fill a need in the near future in the top 6 (or even the top 9 if he's not good enough to play on the first two lines). He's big, he can score some goals and it's difficult to remove the puck from him. Isn't that all that matters for us right now? Fighting? It's a plus but geez, this is not his job and I hope it's never going to be.

So what NHL fighters have the Hunters produced?

Our very own Brandon Prust is one.

I wouldn't say they produce fighters, I would say they produce ****heads and guys that are difficult to play against.

You can look at Perry, Bolland, Sergei Kostitsyn, Kadri, Wideman, Methot, Tinordi, Rinaldo, Harrington, Horvat, Domi. These guys aren't all bruisers, but they are tough to play against.

Is he the next Cam Neely? probably not, but with all due respect to Grind n Muck and his many negative posts...the scouts that matter disagree with him vehemently.

I have a close friend who is a crossover scout with an American team...we talk about prospects all of the time. He had some concerns with McCarron early on (hands not being one of them), but came around by season's end, especially after seeing him multiple times at the U-18's. He was adamant that Mac was a first round pick by draft day. He had no issues with his skill level.

Grind n' Muck...were you at the U-18's? I'm guessing you were not. I notice on your profile it says you want to be a scout - do you not respect the opinions of well regarded NHL scouts? Do you not consider that perhaps you have underrated this prospect, as they think differently than you do? Has it occurred to you that perhaps he improved as the season went on (his stats doubled in the second half), and that his noticeable improvement would raise his draft stock?

It's hard to evaluate a USNTDP prospect based on the "USHL" and college games they play only. Their performances in international tournaments against players their own age are very much considered, and McCarron performed quite well in all of those tournaments in 2013.

I can assure you that it will be difficult for you to become an NHL scout someday if you continue with a hardheaded approach where you consider your scouting abilities to be better than head scouts, OHL GM's that have won championships, and crossover scouts. I've been doing this for several years..and even today..if I have a distinctly different opinion on a player than a senior scout does...I re-evaluate my opinion and watch the player even closer to see if I might be wrong, especially if the player performs in tournaments at the end of the season that I don't see live.

Coming on here and repeatedly saying he has below average skills, doesn't skate well and give his hands 1/5 is not impressing anyone in the scouting world, as it is simply untrue.

I would suggest that you take a more broadminded approach to scouting. It's fine to have an opinion, but it's even finer to be open to changing that opinion.

Spot on Grant, I always appreciate your insight, while I don't devour your opinion and suddenly make it my own, I strongly consider what you say and hold it up against what I already know and have heard from alternative sources. It is a true privilege to have you post as often as you do on our forums and I think people don't realize how special that is.

I read a piece recently on McCarron that highlights what you've said about him, and I am liking the pick more and more with each passing day.

Yup lol......i think people expecting him to be lucic gotta tone down their expectations just a tad.....i think he will make it to the NHL especially with the great developmental record of the london knights, I'd compare him to a guy like bickell... maybe not the crazy playoff elevating game that bickell has but a simlilar player for sure...big strong ability to park infront of the net and screen goalies....and just focus on his physicallity and using that frame. highest hopes i'd have for him are 2nd liner, but i don't expect him to be anything less thasn a third. The fighting PWF we want is still out there somewhere.

Yes there will be and it will air in Nov I believe my cousin was saying. He works for the Knights and was telling me about it last weekend before he left for England. He says the Hunters aren't going to be ready to throw Mike into the fray for big minutes quite yet and there are already some guys wanting to knock him down a peg after his comments at the draft. So time will tell how it all plays out.

How effectively will McCarron forecheck to allow the Habs to gain puck possession?

Thinking back to earlier in the season about 3-4 months from the end and Mike's play really got some press. I thought before that happened the Habs had a shot at drafting him, after that not so much. I figured John Hayden would be available and had laid my hopes with him, after he jumped up into the 1st round talk. So color me delighted that the Habs could draft McCarron at 25th , I was sure he would be taken by the 17th OV at the latest.

So when Mike McCarron joins our team, I'll be watching his progress like I once did with Max Pacioretty's after he first signed. My belief is that Mike will make all of our fans as happy as Max has since his rookie season. McCarron will cast a long shadow over the Bell Center ice and with a harder hitting presence than any Hab forward in recent memory if ever. The feeling I get is after his 1st NHL goal serves notice, he will antagonize goalies league wide for many seasons to come and pleasure all of us Hab fans equally as much.

Welcome to the Hab family, Mike it's great to have you on our side, I'm sure the Hunter's will take great care of our little treasure and teach you well.

McCarron in practice displays a lot of skill for a big man. You see the potential if he can improve his decisions and play at a quicker pace

Pronman was loving McCarron today in the game against Finland:

Corey Pronman @coreypronman
Going to say player of the game a tie between MTL's McCarron and NYI's Cammarata.

I don't even think pronman was particularly high on Mccarron going into the draft either, FWIW.

Could be worse, we could have to listen to Pierre McGuire get an erection on national television from discussing big bodies and long sticks.
