Dagenais on the 4th line? Ya, he's clearly smoking something. Dagenais should be playing on the top line...

Didn't one of the politicians out there suggest a team Quebec in the olympics?

I can't remember if it was the Olympics or the World Championships or what, but I remember something about that too. It won't ever happen of course, for some pretty obvious reasons.

Possible Quebec Team

Based on the recent news out of Quebec, if it were to happen what would the lineup be?

Do we use real or imaginary players?

I ask this because this guy in the article is dreaming if he thinks this will happen.

I live in Quebec and this moron that wrote the article is living in Lala land. There's no way in hell that Quebec will ever get a team. And they will never become soverign (sp?)

It's that simple.

This will never happen. A Quebec team that is..it's a political move and those guys should leave hockey out of it...

Not again...

It seemed like I wasted a lot of time this week on those thread.

The last one end up in a semi-civilized discussion on the issue, which is the first time I saw that on this board.

As a French person from Quebec, if we were to split up I'd move away. I love Canada and would never support a split. Even if it means we get to hog all the goaltenders away from the Canadian team. :bananarama:

p.s.

Lecavalier
Briere
Gagne
Luongo
Brodeur
St. Louis
Tanguay

would be a good start.. but we'd be really poor on defense. Can anyone think of 4 really good quebec born defensemen currently playing?

I'm confident in saying even without the French contingent, Canada would still be considered a top team, if not THE team to beat at any international tournament. I'm not sure how many NHLers, French Canadian NHLers would eve support this, I remember quite a few saying they were proud Canadians, and would still play for team Canada. I'm tired of hearing about these anti Canadian francophones who don't know the first thing about Patriotism. Paranoid people, who think the English community is still trying to destroy their French culture.

Behold the mighty Quebec defence in all it's mediocre glory:

Bauchemin
Bergeron
Boucher
Dandenault
Gauthier
Brisebois

Decent players, but the lack of any legit top-pairing guys would do them in IMO.

Ignoring the fact that certain players would not play for a Team Quebec, and the fact that it is about 95% certain that this won't ever happen (unless Quebec separates some day), a mock roster might look like this:

Simon Gagne - Daniel Briere - Steve Bernier
Alex Tanguay - Vincent Lecavalier - Martin St. Louis
Jason Pominville - Patrice Bergeron - J.P. Dumont
Pierre-Marc Bouchard - Ian Laperierre - Antoine Vermette

Francois Beauchemin - Phillippe Boucher
Marc-Edouard Vlasic - Mathieu Dandenault
Patrice Brisebois - Denis Gauthier
Marc-Andre Bergeron

Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Manny Fernandez

Quebec will never be sovereign.

It doesn't have the legal right to separate from the country anyway due to the Clarity Act... I think that's what it's called.
