I feel extremely confident having Todd Marchant as our Director of Player Development. Also having Scott Niedermayer as an Assistant Coach to help our young defense along the way is a HUGE plus! If its one advantage the Ducks have over other teams in the NHL it is the ability to develop young prospects.

I have a few issues with this article. 1st it says after the Ryan trade the Ducks need to replace him on the 1st line, and that Getzlaf and Perry will miss him after playing with him last season. No mention that he played most of last on the 2nd line. 2nd it says that Palmieiri was our 1st pick the year we drafted him, and really he was our 2nd pick drafted after Holland, and 3rd they project a 2nd line of Etem/Bonino/Penner and have Palmieri on the 4th line.

JeffShibley apparently we also have 2 directors of player development. Marchant and Marchand

Marchand came up 2 times at least.

I caught this error.

Quote:
Then there's the haul the Senators got from Ottawa in the Ryan deal: Silfverberg, 22, who had a strong rookie season with the Senators; and Stefan Noesen, 20, a power forward with a nose for the net.

I've found nhl.com writers are notoriously bad at knowing as much as fans do about their teams. They have enough general knowledge spread over all 30 teams to be employed but they really have no idea about each team past their best 4 or 5 players and top prospects. It's annoying as hell reading some of their articles because of it. There are few guys in the media who actually have a reasonable amount knowledge of most teams - Lebrun is one and as creepy as he is Pierre McGuire is another guy who comes to mind.

Pierre gets a lot of undeserved **** from fans because he doesn't have a great TV persona. But I think he is one of the more knowledgeable guys on TV who actually does his homework including talking to players and management beyond the fluff.

edit: I should have made it clear I was referring to McGuire.
