Ruiz, I guess they really want to bring him back next season.
By noon, it was reported that Young would waive to go to the Yankees. Nothing ever materialized though.

Lee still hurt, Ethan Martin will pitch for the Phils tomorrow.

Michael Young has a full no-trade clause. If you place him on August revokable waivers for the purpose of trading him and another team does claim him you can only negotiate with that one team. Because of his no-trade clause Young would have to waive it in order to be traded to just that one team and if Young doesn't waive it you can't even let that team claim his contract because of his no-trade clause.
Yup, the whole mentor thing is overplayed. You don't need an old guy at every position teaching kids what to do, that's what coaches are for & there's plenty of veterans on this team even without Young.

Besides who the hell would want Young teaching Asche anything about playing 3B?

Works for me. I remember being at opening days at the Vet in the 90s when I was in HS/college and you'd be lucky to have around 35,000 fans. The one year I missed happened to be when there was the classic brawl between drunken Monsignor Bonner and St. Joe's Prep kids in the 700 level.

I was an incoming Prep freshman when that happened. Good stuff.

That said, I don't get why people would want their team to make less money.

if people arent going to the games, tickets will be cheaper. That's one way to look at it.

Also them making less money will help get the clown get canned faster.

It would be nice to go to a game not overwhelmed by teenage girls and frat boys but I would still prefer winning.

Are they really going to be making less money, though? I am under the impression that the Phils are about to inevitably sign a monstrous television rights deal, regardless of the conditions of the team.

Those girls seem to only go to stare at Chase Utley and Hamels (when he is pitching).

They are, but that deal will start in 2016.

This team just is pathetic in front of Hamels. He drove in the only run too.

**** Jonathan Pabelbon. Ever since he showed up this team has curled up and died. I hated him the day we signed him and I hate him today.

I honestly think that next year or so when there is less money left on his deal they will trade him to another team and pay about all of his salary.

I could see that happening to a lot of the dead weight contracts on this team.

This team can't even drive in a run when it's practically handed to them.

I don't even know why i watch anymore.
