Thing is....at the price he's making now....I'm sorry, I don't think he's THAT terrible. He was beyond terrible at 7.3 M$ but that's in the past now. You could still has some very good use of him on a bottom 6 AND on the PK. Guy could develop into a very good PK man....if he wants to. Has the speed. Has "sometimes" the IQ....

So, he didn't care because ?

No matter what he was guaranteed the money.

Did he play like **** because his skill was gone ? He didn't like the city/fans anymore ? Didn't like the team ? Didn't like the coaching staff ?
Why are you sure he didn't care? What about this: he cared, tried his best (but best is not perfect, it is the best according to what he could at that very moment), it wasn't working, confidence got lower and lower, lowering his chances to step up, and poof you've got a viscious circle there. He's played hockey all of his life. He used to be a kid too, with a dream what most likely was being in the NHL. It's been a downfall for him, and not everyone has the same resilience. Do i think he did a good job in Montreal? No. Does it mean he didn't try? No. Does it mean he doesn't deserve respect? No. Does a big salary mean others have the right to **** on you? No.

We're all passionnate about that sport, but passion when lacking reason ends up consuming the passionnante one. A bit of reason, of understanding.

I hate the "only in habs board" argument I keep hearing for all sorts of things but one thing is sure.....I rarely such animosity towards ourselves. Okay, maybe animosity is too harsh of a word but such heated discussions, there are a lot of those now. Thanks to the main board though, when they are hating on the Habs, they give us a reason to get together and fight hand in hand....
Who the **** still goes on the main board? This place is awful. They are all Habs haters.

The thing with Gomez was maybe he did cared about his performance and perhaps it was affecting him but guys, you aren't supposed to smile and laugh with your teammates when you are practicing with them. Or even laughing on the bench.

He never seemed like someone who wasn't happy about his situation with the team IMO. Never showed he wanted to improve his game and never showed he wanted to shut up the haters.

I'm sure that's what he'd have to say to the haters:

Pretend that's Gomez for my sake...

It's too bad he didn't spend some of that money on decent furniture. His room looks like he lives in a dorm.

I remember him for kissing a teammate on the mouth after a goal.

I'll always have this image of Gomez laughing on the bench at the SAME TIME that his teammates were getting punched out by the bruins and we were getting humiliated on the scoreboard. I don't know what he was laughing about and I don't care. No one should have been laughing at that moment. Least of all him. To me that was proof that Gomez didn't care that much about doing better. Also it all starts in the gym in the off season and I strongly doubt that Gomez worked very hard there. Not as hard as some other guys.

Honestly, less and less as it is awful. But there are still hope and some good threads comes once in a while that is NOT anti-Habs as impossible as it sounds.

If Bouwmeester is still considered a 5+M defenseman, Subban should be pushing for league max. This is gonna hurtttt!
