Phoenix and New Jersey? Anaheim? All more likely to move than either team in Florida.

I don't know about either (TB's arena deal isn't as sweet as Florida's AFAIK, which is the only reason they're still there -- FLA was trying to sell tickets at $15 a pop last year for less popular opponents, that says it all). Phoenix just settled their mess. NJ? Not going anywhere. Anaheim I could see it happening potentially. Not a great market either but a good enough product that I didn't mention it.

Tampa was 8th in the league in attendance last season. Florida was 22nd.

and those super cheap seats are very limited, and they are seats that otherwise wouldn't be selling at all. Its a very smart way to get new customers who otherwise wouldn't go at all and hopefully eventually turn them in to higher spending customers. They'll buy beer and food. And if a few years maybe they'll upgrade their seats.

Now that Phoenix is settled (for five years anyway) there aren't any serious candidates for relocation.

There will be 2 expansion teams in the west with the unbalanced conferences.

My guess Seattle and Kansas City

Kind of like Student Rush tickets during the Dark Years, right?

I'm just saying...

Exactly!

In all seriousness, whenever I see the arguments about how hockey "can't work in Southern markets", I can't help but notice a few things:
1) It's never mentioned how poorly managed the teams that struggle are.
2) It's ignored how teams that are poorly managed in "traditional markets" struggle as well.
3) It's ignored how teams that are managed well in "non-traditional markets" actually do fine.

Give a team good management, without a cloud of uncertainty hanging over a franchise, and it will draw well. Give it poor management for an extended period of time, and it will either struggle, or it will be called the "Toronto Maple Leafs".

After signing Clifford, LA seems ripe for the picking to address our "size in the bottom 6" issue.

Too bad they don't have cap space or a need for a $2.3mil number 5 defender.

True. But we can move Niskanen for a decent return elsewhere.

LA fans seem satisfied with a late-round pick for King. Better than losing him to waivers for nothing.

two separate deals...

King to the Pens for a pick - see RRP's trade board thread.
Nisky + Glass to ? for picks.

1.5M in capspace and all the roster spots filled with the requisite 13th forward and 7th d-man...

As long as Penner is not the answer I don't care. Kings otherwise have some good bottom 6 players who could help us.

What were the terms of the Clifford deal... I have to bolt but someone should post it (unless I missed it).

You know Penner is with the Ducks now, right?

What I learnt from listening to NHL Home Ice...

The Blues, who have yet to make noise in the playoffs, are suddenly Stanley Cup contenders. Yet the Penguins, who won the Cup in '09, should never be taken seriously in the playoffs.

Don't know about the Blues - sounds like a stretch, but I agree you can't take the Pens serious until they make some changes, or go on a strong run in the Playoffs.

Neither team has done anything since 2009 to be taken seriously.

Yea the pens made it farther than the blues last year, but the blues had to play the kings in the postseason the past 2 years. I don't think the pens would have made it past la either.

The kings are not the islanders or the injured senators
