Savard - not a 40g scorer but an elite forward
Amonte
Weight - Same as Savard
Kovalev

Stepan looks promising. Maybe not a 40g scorer but a very good playmaker.

You and I must have different definitions of elite.

Not to mention every single one of those players played their best in another uniform.

Well the Rangers sucked at keeping their talent. I won't argue that. Savard was one of the best playmakers in the league for a while. That, to me is elite.

Amonte and Kovalev both scored 40 goals. Amonte more than Kovalev obviously.

I'm not disagreeing with the premise of they need to draft some more highly skilled players, however they have done so in the past. They also seem to have good luck with defensemen.

They've sucked at developing forwards as well if those are the 4 names you can give me over the past 40 years.

Just me, though.
Did some part of my post imply that I have a priority on either?

Rangers haven't had much success developing either one. If I'm gunna hope, I won't even think about some "hard nosed player" who can fight.

I didn't need to go back that far to grab names. And yes, they sucked at drafting for a long time. I don't think this current group in charge should be ridiculed for their mistakes in the past

The Rangers have always lacked a physical presence on defense too but half of the fan base(if you can them "fans")are rooting for Dylan McIlrath to fail so they can show how smart they are. Its pathetic.

Absolutely pathetic. I wanted Tarasenko but was over it in a few days. Much rather have McI than Fowler and many others in that 1st round. At this point would still want Tarasenko but don't know that he's a lock for 40/yr.

I wouldn't wait all August with baited breath for Stepan. They have no real deadline, so they'll take as long as they please.

If there was scouting for fighters, I think many NHL teams would offer Punxrock the job.

Pretty much. People rather see themselves right instead of eat crow on a potential good player

This statement is so true, and what makes it even worse is half of the fan base...at least the "HF fan base" that wishes him to fail is simply doing it so they won't have to say they were wrong about him after sounding off about the pick.

This type of player has been needed for over a decade here in NY.

Why bounce Stral? He's proven his worth and ability.

If he can bounce Stralman, then bring him up ASAP, because Stralman is very good.

I like your insight but you toot your own horn way to much.

As for McIlrath, I'd love to see him make the team this year. Should certainly be the first guy to make the team this year if any injuries occur.
