Good signing for the Habs! Nystrom could have probably signed a one year AHL contract but this try-out gives him the opportunity to return to Sweden if it doesn't work in the AHL.

With the way Alain Berger left the team, it seems that Bergevin wants to take no chance with "borderline" prospects.

Maybe Wheeling really liked him?

Not so fast! Hagel is still a UFA.

he was one of the better players sadly enough. He worked hard but was forced into a role he really shouldn't have been. I like him as a bottom 6 forward for the Dog.

Let just say that when I learned that during the season we offered a contract to Armstrong, you have to notice that Bergevin and Co loves continuity. Let just hope it's not continuity in mediocrity though....

Chaput will be most likely to heads up the Wheeling. With probably Ben Duffy and maybe 1 or 2 more. We will use Wheeling this year that's for sure.

For a second I thought it was journeyman Nystrom.. which would help the Dogs actually.

It def could be a waste, depends on how much playing time he gets

That Nystrom signed a nice contract in Nashville.

Maybe it was a two-way contract. I can't see him getting $750K in Sweden

Will be very interesting to see how Nystrom looks in his try-out.

He sort of reminds me of Holland in that he has a lot of skills for a longshot, but no one outstanding to build on. Still, not bad for a 7th round pick.

Heard he has very good vision and passing. Good hockey IQ guy.

I can't remember the word 'technical' being used to describe a hockey player once let alone the dozens of times it's attached itself to Einsturzende Neubauten.

Love talented longshots! Great test for our burdgeoning development team.

Like someone else said, no way he refuses a 1 way offer. This was a two way offer and he can get better accommodations in europe.

Good news Nystrom could be a great surprise. If he can produce more than Avstin did NYstrom should play on the 3rd line

...errrgghhh, producing more than Avstin basically means being worthy of a roster spot.

But, yeah, technically, he should be played in the top-9 or sent back to Sweden.

Avtsin scored at a .3ppg rate as a 19 year old. If Nystrom can come in and match that, yeah he's pretty much deserving of being on the third line.
