So you're saying next Saturday and Sunday when I'm at the games vs. Oakland that I should drink a few extra beers to contribute to the team's coffers?

Done.

I think the same way as you.

Beeston was aiming for 37,000 on average this year. The Jays are under 32,000 right now, and that number is likely to dip with the team so far out. Wonder what that spread will mean come time to set the 2014 budget.

Question is if that's long term or short term payroll?

Moving into pure baseball dollars and not the 'Rogers can make the Jays TV contract whatever they want to increase/decrease revenue' argument (although its accurate), revenue's up, but a lot of that is attributed to new flex packs/season tickets and the retain rate on those is going to be absolutely terrible after this year. So while the Jays may be able to commit for 2014, if they don't make the playoffs again revenues are going to be significantly down next year, which could impact signing/acquiring guys on deals that go past 2014.

He's on the DL and Wagner has been recalled. As to answer your question, I don't believe they realized he had a meniscus tear. It doesn't affect you as much as an MCL/ACL injury but it kinda blocks your knee joint from bending properly so that's most likely the reason why you saw him limping everywhere. He was probably pulled from last nights game because his knee locked and gave him so much discomfort that he could barely stand on it (happened to me before). They just need to clear out the chips and he should be ready in 4-6 weeks.

I bet 25% of all rosters go on waivers between now and September. Not a big shocker.

I don't know why TSN has this up as a headline. Every player in the league goes through waivers in August, even Mike Trout, it's a matter of process. But yes, it would be nice if someone claimed him

As for the injury debate, if anything the Jays are known to baby their pitchers (i.e. the piggy-backing program in A ball). Syndergaard and Sanchez were at the same level, but after spending a few months in the Mets system Syndergaard is in AA and starting the Futures Game, while Sanchez is still in A ball.

Bundy is an interesting case, as the O's asked him to stop throwing one of his pitches (can't think of which one at the moment) until he reaches the majors in order to reduce stress on his elbow. Then he needs TJ anyway haha. I don't think adequate research has been done to pinpoint all the factors that influence pitcher health or to determine the best way--if there is one--of developing young arms. It's surprising, considering the millions of dollars teams spend each year on pitchers on the DL.

August waivers are revocable. If someone were to claim him, the Jays can either revoke it and keep him (as well as proceed to negotiate a trade with said team who claimed him) or they could let him go. Seeing as nobody will likely claim him, AA will be allowed to negotiate with anybody.

Maybe the answer is hiring Ozzie Guillen who is a winner and crazy enough to win with all those Latin players.

Crazy as it might sound it wouldn't be a bad thing take the heat off the team and have Ozzie be Ozzie.

Aaron Sanchez: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 Ks
Kyle Drabek: 4 IP, 1 H, 1 ER (HR), 1 BB, 3 Ks

Deck McGuire came out in relief for Drabek. Interesting if they're now looking at a bullpen role for him since he's struggled for majority of his professional career.

Wow, Shi Davidi just tweeted that AA always puts everyone on waivers in August.

Not only did you not know it's been done in the past you apparently don't understand the concept of August waivers.

Braden Shipley got destroyed by the Canadians today. He gave up 4 runs before recording an out.

His line for the day: 2.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO.

Not sure what happened to Dickie Thon but he was pinch hit for in the 2nd.

They're not, it was just his day to pitch. They have 5 guys in their rotation and want to keep them on regular schedules even with the rehab guys around. Tepera was in the same boat last night.

No, better to keep him in a spot where he can drive in more runs.

Yes he's hot, but still strikes out alot and can't really be counted on to get on base when you absolutely need him to. Keep him in the middle of the order where he can remain streaky and not really hurt the team.

they probably projected that based on a competitive team, and we were out of it from day 1. i guess next year they'll base salary on team revenue again assuming they believe this team will be a contender.

it's all a gamble
