Briere can still be effective overall, but it really depends who his wingers are. He's good with people who can grind and make room for him. I was never really a fan, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he has a good year in Montreal. He'll be out to prove something, and he's usually good with a chip on his shoulder.
Thanks a lot guys. I like the idea of him with Eller and Galchenyuk but I don't want Eller pushed to the wing. Guess we'll have to see.
Thanks again.

A buddy and I were talking about this earlier today. If the Flyers were (hopefully) in a game 7 for the Cup up a goal at home with less than a minute left who would you want on the ice?

I said I'd have something like this:

Talbot - Couturier - Giroux
Timonen - Coburn

The defense is a tough one. I could easily see an argument for Schenn, Grossmann, Coburn and Timonen.

I'd rather have Grossmann over one of them IMO.

Unless Couturier improves on his faceoffs, I'd rather Giroux at center. If Coburn is in beast mode, I'd leave him out there. If not, probably Schenn.

Neutral/Defensive zone FO? I'd go Schenn and Coburn or Schenn and Grossmann. If play goes up ice, they gtfo for guys like Kimmo and Gus/Streit who can skate and keep the puck deep.

My apology, I should have specified. I forgot to include my whole faceoff situation.

It would be a defensive zone draw. I forgot to mention I, like several others have said, would have Giroux taking the faceoff then immediately shift back to wing.

I'd would have Giroux taking the faceoff , I would have Timonen and Grossman as the D and Talbot as a winger , but I have no clue who I would want as the other forward.

You'd need two centers on the ice so it would probably be Lecavalier/Couturier.

Vinny is good at faceoffs which is a plus but Couturier is the no brainier answer IMO as the other forward/center you want out there. After all he is our best defensive forward.

If the Flyers had the lead or it was a defensive zone draw I would say:

Talbot-Giroux-Couturier
Schenn-Timonen

If the Flyers were behind or it was an offensive zone draw I would say:

Hartnell-Giroux-VL
Streit-Coburn

Interesting scenario. For a defensive-zone faceoff to protect a 1-goal lead to win the Cup, depending, of course, on how the season shook out, I'd agree with having:

Talbot Giroux Couturier
Timonen Grossmann

It would be a toss-up, though, to have Hall at least on the ice for the faceoff win.

Is this a typo, or did Jones really get an invite to USA Olympic Camp?

Viktor Tikonov's son, Vasily, died in a fall from his 4th floor apartment. He was a former assistant coach with the Sharks.

This comes on the heels of former Red Wing, Shawn Burr, who died in a fall just a few days ago.

New farm system for the Flyers?

Quote:
RSE went through contentious negotiations with Glendale on a lease agreement before the City Council approved it in a special session on July 3. The deal was spurred by RSE's partnership with Global Spectrum, which owns the Philadelphia Flyers and manages 113 facilities around the world.
http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/95...hoenix-coyotes

Not too sure of the logistics but it says IceArizona is the owner of the Coyotes now, and Renaissance Sports and Entertainment is the Managing Partner of Ice Arizona (and Global Spectrum is in some sort of partnership with RSE). So does that mean there is a commonality of ownership between the two teams or am I not readint that right?

I was listening to WIP on the way home from work & they were talking about this. They were saying its a violation to own the Sixers & the Devils because of the rivalry between them & the Flyers & also the fact of them being from the Philly area. They were saying how people should boycott the Sixers (like people don't do it now lol) if they go through with the purchase.

Good, hopefully they move the Sixers out to the Jersey swamps where they belong.

Interestingly enough, Morganti just speculated that they could move both franchises to Seattle. Although buying the Newark arena wouldn't make sense for that, but it would to move the Sixers.

Maybe I just don't remember back to the last Olympics, but do they normally invite guys to camp without any NHL experience (outside of the obvious Crosbies of the world)?

Moving the Sixers? I don't think that would happen and I'd be pretty ****ing mad if it did.
