Getting increasingly annoyed with all those freak injuries happening left and right. Was there any blood on the ice? Any indication of whether it's a skate or not? For all we know, he might never have been touched by a skate... Anybody watching it live?

Collberg starts to dominate then this happens.

We're beyond cursed. Please for heaven's sake not be serious.

Sweden wins 4-3. Collberg picked up 3 points and Vail had an assist. De La Rose was held pointless.

Collberg, in my opinion, was the best player on the ice until he left the game due to injury. You could tell he wanted to be a difference maker offensively. He played with a lot of intensity and was moving his feet. His passing was terrific today and showed tremendous vision. 2 goals and an assist for him today. Hopefully his injury isn't serious.

Collberg Highlights:

De La Rose was very, very quiet. I didn't notice him at all really apart from a few shifts. He got off to a good start in the first, causing turnovers and using his frame, but his play really trailed off. He made a nice pass late in the first and saw time on the penalty kill. He tried, at times, to be a leader offensively, but his lack of puck skills really showed.

Vail wasn't particularly noticeable either. He got undressed by Collberg on the PP which gave Sweden a 1-0 lead. He picked up an assist after winning a faceoff. I didn't see much of an edge from him today. He did drive to net once and had a fairly big hit, but apart from that he did not involve himself in the offensive game or the physical game. However, Vail did stand out on the PK, especially in the third as he was effective.

I hope Collberg is gonna ok... Please hockey gods, make him recover quickly!!

Collberg looks small even against player of his age... Just hope his game will translate to NA.

Wow, reading through this thread to see how my boy Collberg is doing, and it goes from a super high to the worst low within half a page...

Any report on McCarron? I trust your scouting reports, I remember chatting with you during Sarnia Sting games about prospects during the lockout.

He did not. Team Sweden confirmed early in the third that he will not return to the game and he never did.

Thanks.

Not yet as McCarron is part of USA White, they play next against Finland which is starting within the next couple minutes

That was a very smart play to keep the play alive on the assist he got.

Couple of good chances on back-to-back plays by Michael McCarron. Showing good hands in tight, just couldn't find finish. #NJEC

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 21s
NYI's Cammarata makes it 3-0 USA on a nice wrap. McCarron with the set up.

Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters 28s
Taylor Cammarata scores on the wraparound after a nice play by McCarron to get him the puck. 3-0 USA White. #NJEC

‏@coreypronman 53s
Good McCarron has shown up. 10 minutes in and he's been involved in a good 3-4 scoring chances.

Good thing he's playing with Cammarata, he'll get used to playing with dwarfs.

3-0 USA White. USA is dominating the game. McCarron's line has been going head-to-head with Lehkonen's line.

McCarron has been awesome. On his first shift he backchecked really hard, covering a lot of ground very quickly. He's been a regular on the PP and has done pretty much everything but score. He drove hard to the net from corner and got robbed. After the faceoff he went right to the net with the puck and then dangled around two defenders but unfortunately lost the handle at the last second. On his next shift he had a nice rush, showing off his skating ability and quick hands. Later that same shift he stole the puck in the neutral zone to set up a 2-on-1. He used his hands to obtain space and then fired a pass to Cammarata who went for the wraparound and scored. I noticed that McCarron really likes to use his slapshot, I think he took three of them.

Lehkonen has been invisible, along with linemate Teravainen. Kapanen has been fairly good though. They've been shut down by the Cammarata-Shore-McCarron line. Lehkonen was fairly active in his own zone.

Update on Collberg from nhl.com, kinda:

Quote:
Earlier in the period, Sebastian Collberg sustained what Gronborg said was a twisted right knee. Collberg, a Montreal Canadiens prospect who scored both of Sweden's first-period goals, was attempting to move through the defensive zone when he was hurt. Collberg needed help leaving the ice and was unable to put any weight on his right leg. Gronborg said he didn't know how serious the injury was.

"He got a little twist, someone fell over his knee, it twisted when he was in the middle of a turn," Gronborg said. "We'll wait and see. Right now it doesn't feel too good, but with those type of injuries we won't know until we take a look the day after."

i"m surprised he's this skilled. Never thought he'd be dangling anyone. Throw in the fact that he can skate and I'm starting to wonder why he didn't go higher.

Thanks as always for your reports, That!!!

I'm good with this. As long as no skate went through his leg.

Worst comes to worst, he missed less than a month of the season.

Big Mac! This is prospect porn indeed, lol.

Hopefully Collberg only has a twisted knee as reported and nothing more.

After having watched 5 periods of McCarron, I can honestly say that no way I thought he was this good. He is skating really well and has surprising hands, and seems to love driving the net.

Keep seeing how so many people are surprised by McCarron's skill. So - a lot of you were taking the word of Muck n' Grind and ignoring what Hunter, Timmins, Murray, myself and others were saying..can't say I understand this..but it's been like that forever around here. Not a lot of rhyme or reason behind the logic at times.
