Two-time Stanley Cup champion Scott Gomez is joining the Florida Panthers. The Panthers said Wednesday that they agreed to terms with the veteran center on a one-year deal. Gomez leads all active U.S.-born NHL players in assists with 530 and points with 701. Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said Gomez adds ''further depth to the middle of our lineup'' and will be a leader to the team's core of young players. The 33-year-old Gomez has also played for New Jersey, the New York Rangers, Montreal and San Jose. He's been to the Stanley Cup finals three times, winning with the Devils in 2000 and 2003. Gomez also played for the U.S. on the 2006 Olympic team.

Start a thread on ANYTHING! baked goods, then type the words "Marcus Kruger" into that thread and watch all hell break lose.

I'm not a big Bouwmeester fan but I like that contract for the Blues. Kruger is worth more in an Iron Chef competition.

I thought Bouwmeester still got over paid. He hasn't impressed me in any of the games I have watched.

It was a good value for the Blues, especially considering these awful contracts out there

I take Seabrook over Bouwmeester for sure and think Seabs is easily worth 2 million more. I think I'd take Hjammer over JBow too

Today is supposedly the final, final, final, "no, we really mean 'final' this time" deadline for the Yotes sale to go through the NHL BoG.

Who's the next target of Canadian wrath? Normally I'd say Florida but I think they have an iron tight lease.

They are located in the "sunbelt" for some reason Canadians don't seem to like "sunbelt" teams.

And I have heard they aren't doing so well at the gate/financially

They have stable ownership, a good lease, and were at 92.5% capacity last season. They're fine, they aren't going anywhere.

And who cares what Canadians think?

Probably Florida or Columbus. Maybe the Devils, if they ignore the fact that a local's on the verge of buying them.

And, for all intents and purposes, the Yotes were the only relocation candidate this offseason, and in five years they'll likely remain the only relocation candidate. Folks that want to see teams in Seattle or Quebec or elsewhere better be praying for an expansion.
