Youve got cap problems.

Plus, dont know why we'd trade for a center when we have 5 already. A LW would be nice.

Assuming that the center and Hainsey combine to make ~2.55 million.

Eminger is still without a club... it seems as though for some reason NYR management decided to go for a left handed extra D instead.

Still, getting miffed about a change in journeyman 7th d is going overboard a bit. (It is the summer)

Imagine if Prust didn't price himself out... Our lineup is so much harder to play against with him there.

Provided Richards moves to wing and Zuccarello wasn't resigned.

Richards Stepan Nash
Kreider Brassard Callahan
Pouliot Boyle Hagelin
Prust Moore Dorsett

That bottom 6 is a pain in the ass and every single one of them is capable of 10 goals or more (Hagelin and Pouliot hitting 15 approx)

Sigh.

Is there a point during the season people can get some cap relief? Or is this going to be the cruddiest trade season ever...

And I'm not seeing how Moore, Richards, Boyle, are immovable objects, or reliable going forward. Plus Stepan can play wing too.

My dream is getting O'Reilly & Wilson from Colorado for Del Zotto and other stuff (maybe even Girardi).

Teams that have a little bit of cap space will see that space effectively grow as the season progresses, but teams that are up against the cap will up against it throughout the season.

Is there any way we could pick up the following players/type of players:

-a German

-a player named Louie

-a player with a bad arse 'stache

I just think it would make the outlook of this team much better if we had the above players/player types.

Your dream seems to be (another) major roster overhaul which, for better or for worse, is something I'd like to avoid.

There's 29 other teams that want the exact same things, though.

Like it or not, at the end of this upcoming season, there will be quite a bit of overhaul. They have A LOT of UFA's

If it comes to that, I'd rather it be a forced hand due to contract term rather than it being because our GM has no clue as to what type of team he wants to build.

No idea why we would trade for another center with 5 on the roster already. A LW maybe, but not a center.

That's nothing. All of the Sharks forwards are centers...

That list is wrong on a couple of counts. Rozsival wore #3 in 2005-06, Poti wore #16.

Not gonna lie, unless a lot of our kids take major steps forward, it's hard to envision how our team in 14-15 will be better than the one in the upcoming season.

The cap will go up next season, should allow us to bring everyone back and bring in another scorer for the top 6.

Someone mentioned drafting McIlrath. I think we need to re-visit our drafting. Everyone swears it has gotten so much better, but the last bonafide star we drafted was Marc Staal in 2005 (don't jump the gun with Stepan--and I supported him about 6 months ago, saying he'd be no. 1 C, when everyone hated him).

Jessiman was like ****ing up a wet dream, then Montoya (6th overall) and Korpikoski. Staal was a sure bet to be a good pick, Sauer--can't blame anyone but maybe him for not opting out, spilled milk... then my memory slips a bit, but in some order, we drafted Sanguinetti, Olver, Cherepanov, Kreider/Stepan, McIlrath/Thomas, Miller, Skjei. I'm missing somebody, I know.

Montoya, Sanguinetti was a bust, Olver we knew was a bust from day 1, Kreider needs to take a lunar step, Stepan was a great 2nd round find (was a reach at that point), McIlrath is developing as a 6th or 7th D would thus far (if even that), Thoas is gone and odds are stacked against him, Miller is developing as a bottom-six player, who knows about Skjei? Not me.

The ONLY franchise player we've drafted in 20+ years is Lundqvist. Lundqvist was in the 9th round. That doesn't make us so good at drafting mid-late, like people say. Who else did we get that way? Hagelin, who, while we use as a top-six W, is a 3rd liner? Callahan, who hasn't been a difference-maker in 2 years? St. Croix, who will not likely make the NHL? We never got Daniel Alfreddson in the 7th. How much better is our drafting with Clark? No better than with Maloney. We keep picking busts and good theoretical players.
