I wonder if he signed his QO.

Not sure why it didn't get done sooner. I had a feeling Hodgson would be the last to sign.

Nice.

I expect him to come to camp and earn an NHL spot.

The amount should be <$1M.

And we have confirmation that he signed his QO:

Paul Hamilton ‏@pham1717 8m
Corey Tropp will make $577,500 this season

Was his QO two way?

It should be a fun battle in camp but I don't see him making the team. Or at least not the starting 12.

Vanek/Hodgson/Stafford
Ennis/Grigs/Leino
Ott/Porter/Flynn
Foligno/XXX/Kaleta
Scott

Who does he bounce from the wings?

I haven't seen confirmation of that anywhere, but I believe that his QO will be a 2-way contract coming off his ELC. Like Adam and Flynn (first year).

I see him making the team. He will either have to beat out Flynn in training camp or injuries/trade will dictate that he is in the starting 12.

I could be a smartass and say that Hodgson will not be signed going into the regular season so we would have to move Ennis, Foligno or McCormick to center.

Tropp was eligible for a 2-way qualifying offer, so it's reasonable to assume that's what he was offered. Flynn isn't relevant here since he didn't sign his QO.

I don't think he beats out Flynn...I don't think there's a significant chance of that at all, really.

Flynn was more impressive in a similar sample size - much more versatile, and more of a Rolston guy than Tropp IMO

I have to agree. I just don't see room in the lineup for Tropp right now. No worries, as he's still waiver-exempt (I think).

I have no problem with letting him start in Rochester again and seeing how he does a year after the injury. I'm sure he'll get a recall at some point to get back up here and see more time. I think he'll have a place on this team at some point in the future, just not right now. I take Flynn over him pretty easily at the moment.

Good to have him re-signed.

I know Ron said it was Short term, but I'm thinking:
Vanek-Hodgson-Stafford
Ennis-Grigs-Leino
Ott-Foligno-Tropp
Kaleta-Porter-Flynn
Scott

I would like to see:

Vanek-Hodgson-Foligno
Leino-Grigorenko-Stafford
Ennis-Ott-Tropp
Kaleta-Porter-Flynn
Scott

Regier isn't going to subject him to waivers. I think he'll be in Buffalo (provided he comes in and the knee is not an issue).

23-man roster.

14 forwards: Vanek, Hodgson, Stafford, Ott, Grigorenko, Leino, Ennis, Porter, Flynn, Foligno, Larsson, Kaleta, Tropp, Scott (Girgensons, Ellis, Adam, Catenacci, McCormick in Rochester).

7 defensemen: Ehrhoff, Myers, Weber, Pysyk, Tallinder, McBain, Sulzer (McNabb, Ruhwedel, Ristolainen in Rochester).

2 goalies: Miller, Enroth (Hackett in Rochester).

I wasn't sure so thanks for clarifying.

If Tropp or Adam are waived I think both of them will be claimed. There's a better chance Adam will be on waivers than Tropp IMO and he'll be claimed for sure. We'll lose him for nothing.

I don't think either would be claimed as the claiming team has to put them on their NHL roster and neither would be a lock for any team out there.

Tropp has tons of upside. He will be a factor this year. He showed he can compete at NHL level two years ago.
Question is knee. Sometimes you are not the same.

$105,000 AHL salary for Tropp per capgeek.com.
