I'll always remember Renaud for going on L'Antichambre and saying the words no other English sports network (I'm looking at you TSN) could say, live on air, without any censorship.

"You fat ****, you fat ****". Ovechkin dit a Boudreau, "you fat ****"

Anyone know when the current deal between RDS/Canadiens is supposed to end? Hear it was until 2012-2013 season. Don't know if there was a new agreement?

Wonder how hard TVA Sports would push for Habs games.

Apparently RDS has Habs for next season.

I bet TVA is willing to put some serious cash to get the deal.
The contract ends in 2014. Bell owns a part of the Habs so I believe Molson will keep the games on RDS (owned by Bell)

Thanks! I wasn't able to find any info regarding it ending in 2014. Guess they just increased the contract due to the short season last year.

I think RDS will have exclusive negotiating rights with the Habs until December of this year. If RDS does not get a deal done during that time frame, I am sure Peladeau will break the bank.

Can't wait to have Felix Seguin as a trade deadline insider... Not that Lavoie learned anything to me ever before the usual big names, though.

Molson can't just hand it to Bell, there are other shareholders too. It has to be competitively bid on, Bell has to pay up if TVA or someone else starts bidding high.

I wish the Habs go on Radio-Canada for Saturday night games and make Dany Dubé an analyst.

I am really surprised nobody come up with this yet, but LP Neveu, wich was a producer for RDS (appeared on le 5 a 7, created Hockey 360) left for TVA Sports a month ago. I think this is a big factor why Renaud Left. Former boss who wants his men in his new team..

I dont watch or listen to the games in french anyways, if it can be helped.

I see this as no big deal, and who cares.

So you only watch the few Habs games on CBC and TSN?

With all this chatter about tva getting habs games does this mean Quebec City getting a nhl club in a couple of years is dead?400 million plus for an arena and no nhl club?

Indeed. I try to avoid RDS as much as possible but TSN doesn't show a lot of stuff about the Habs...

I don't watch RDS outside of the actual habs game anymore, even at that, I always defer to the English broadcast if available. I used to love Rds, but they've become increasingly bush league and more ridiculous, simply cannot take their network seriously anymore.

He is the 4th best insider in hockey. Considering Quebec is about 3% of North America I think it's not too bad to have him.

And about RDS, all NHL fanbase outside the Leafs would love to have a such a coverage. It is pretty much the 2nd best sport station in hockey coverage and it's 90% Habs.

I'm pretty harsh on RDS/French Media.. but Lavoie deserves alot of credit. He is one of the best, he's HIGHLY respected from many people in the Anglo media. He's probably the most recognoized face of RDS to the Anglo media. That is saying ALOT.

Pretty sure Lavoie put out Seguin to Dallas before the big boys from TSN + Lebrun. You guys are hating way too hard.

And he's one of the only guy who said Iginla to Boston wasn't done. The next morning he retweeted people who told him to shut the **** up because he wasn't an insider and didn't know what he was talking about, it was funny as hell.
