Yeah but who? Renaud had been a hockey reporter for many years before becoming l'informateur hockey. I don't see Luc Gélinas, Stéphane Leroux and Chantal taking that role. What's left? Félix Séguin...
I think one of the best candidates could be Jeremie Rainville. He is a former TVA sports reporter and he appears sporadically on RDS but he probably doesn't have nearly as many contacts as Lavoie does.
I don't know who but they could even hire someone. Remember when Yvon Pedneault was colour commentator on RDS? He was plugged. Can't say the same since he's been replaced. Fact is the Habs will help who helps them. The broadcasts are usually biased towards the Habs and in returns, they get info sooner or that other media doesn't get.
He's always there when "Le 5 à 7" is on. I saw him many times but he does work for ESPN, uh?
Wouldn't be surprised if RDS could pay him way less than what ESPN pays him right now...
Is he? Then again, it's not like I watch RDS religiously or anything. Most of my pre-game time is spent at work or on hf.
In the end, at least in the short run, I can see the 'lose-lose' argument. But speaking as a fan, I couldn't give two ***** about what Lavoie got, I care about what we get as Habs fans, and we lose out here.
Legendary line: Vous dites que Latendresse est pas vite mais sur une ligne droite il battrait peut-être même Kovalev. Si tu lui donne une bonne longueur d'avance, j'penses qu'il est capable d'le battre.
Wow. That's just awful for RDS. Loses their main insider and at the same time, one of the few people bringing any semblance of professionalism to the network. Ouch.
The guy is too loyal to French players, helping them develop their careers (Lecavalier this summer, Briere a few years ago, Desharnais, Darche...) at the expense of the Canadiens.
I wish him all the bad luck in the world.
I'm thinking Mathieu Darche. Makes sense. Was active in the NHLPA, so has contacts all over the NHL, is a knowledgeable dude in the business side of the game, already worked a bit for RDS recently and this job would give him the opportunity to keep his family life stable in Montreal (Something he seemed very preoccupied by.)
I lost all my trust in this guy after his famous interview with Vinny in Tampa. Rebember when the club was mismanage by the last owners? It was so pathetic, a Vinny fan who was completely convicted that his friend Vinny wanted to be a Montréal Canadiens.
Oh yes, Vinny always wanted to play in Montréal Renaud.
Go back to school, TVA sports is your place to learn again.
I feel at least that Stephane Leroux is 1000x times more credible than any other reporters in RDS. he have good insight for Junior Hockey and could extend it to the NHL, especially if he knew a lot of them when they were in juniors
hard to argue with the guy; he's the only one covering it full time.
