Thing is, it wasn't the whole song that would play.

Whenever a goal was scored, it would start from the pause in the track so the tempo ain't that slow and if you had been at the Bell Center when that song was being played, you'd understand why people liked it.

Having 21,000 people signing OH!OH!OH!OOOOH!OH! at the same time is pretty cool

Plus, people remember it because it was the song that played during the last playoffs the Habs went to.

Believe me, I'm very used to that song. Song 2 from Blur has everyone shouting "WooHoo!" at all the arenas too, and it's much better suited for a goal celebration. Problem with that is that it's played.

I find it waaaaaaaaay too cheesy sounding for such a modern song, not that I was ever a fan of Vertigo when it first came out. After a few goals, I got used to it, and now I very much enjoy hearing it. There's nothing wrong with fans in the Bell Centre singing "Hello, Hello!"

the beginning of the song suck indeed... the song is indeed identifiable, but I don't think it is appropriate for when we score a goal. You need something that rocks, something with punch in it.
I don't say U2 is the best song either... but this one is surely not the answer.
Surely not the answer? Not appropriate? You're nuts. It doesn't sound great on the computer and I wouldn't play it at home, but have you even been at the Bell Center when this song is on? The whole place is buzzing and everyone sings "oh oh oh oh oh" along with it! The atmosphere was electrifying when this used to play. I remember the Boston-Montreal series from 3 years ago.

The current U2 track doesn't come close to capturing the feeling this used to bring to those in attendance.

I can only assume you have no idea what you're talking about and that you've never experienced it live.

U2 sucks. And I've never heard anyone sing "hello hello" or anything when this plays. And I'm at the Bell Center every 2nd game.

Actually it sounds more like a cheezy early 80's track rather than a New Kids on The Block. And it's quite terrible on its own. But fact of the matter is, it works live. The crowd cheering fills it out nicely and the audience responded to it. It was also unique to Montreal.

No question there might be other tracks that would work just as well. But it would have to be unique so it could become an original "Habs signature", so to speak. I wouldn't want one of these generic over-played sports arena songs (read: "Song 2", "Dr. Who"). The currently used U2 track just doesn't come close to the way the L'Oreille track made the crowd respond.

This goal song took us to the second round in the playoff two times and made us beat Boston, overcoming incredible odds.

Seeing Zednik scores before he was almost beheaded and then hearing that song play was golden moments.

then they put Vertigo and we lost first round when we should have won

gee, thanks U2

How can someone think it sucks?????????

Are you a new fan or what?

That's the old goal song that everyone was cheering for. They arent playing the whole part obviously, but the atmosphere this song was bringing in the bell center, especially in the playoffs was bare none 100 feets over the current one.

If you think it sucks, you really need to go to the Bell center more often. And if so, you really shouldnt comment on something you dont know.

Really, you cant be against this.

n.b. it's not coming back...

but i'll signed anyways

it's so sad now to see that when we first heard Vertigo last year, everybody was for the return of Loreille and now, it appears this song sucks...

I ABSOLUTELY loved that song when we used to play it after our goals.

However, since I've been signing petitions after petitions for almost 2 years, I have come to the conclusion that Pierre Boivin sings U2 in his shower.

Therefore, I will not sign this petition, because it is useless...
