110% Trade scenarios to get Lecavalier

This is too funny, our favorite clowns from 110% gave their trade ideas about who they would ship for Lecavalier.....

JEAN PERRON: Aebisher, Samsonov and 1st round pick

MICHEL BERGERON: Kovalev, 1 d-men Tampa Bay's choice, 2 1st round picks

MICHEL VILLENEUVE: Markov, Ryder, Price

FRANCOIS GAGNON: Souray, Samsonov, and 1st round pick.

This exercice was way too funny to not share it with HF buddies....

People, those guys are experts, do not try this at home.....

Well realistic or not, I'd do the first option without a second thought. The fourth option would also be a possibility, but that's only if re-signing Souray wasn't an option.

Seriously...

One might think they are the Hab fans making ridiculous proposals on the trade board ...

Villeneuve, who acts like he is the 2nd coming of Conn Smythe, is by far the one who gets the most hosed!!

The best proposal I thought was Francois Gagnon, because he is at least dealing a UFA ...

I myself would probably not give much more than Plekanec + Kostitsyn/other good but not great prospect + 1st ...

These are terrible! Lecavalier has low value due to his terrible contract! He can be had for ALOT, ALOT less. Alot less.

Well then that's even better. Take the pick outta the first option then. IMO the cap will rise and over time his contract won't seem that big. Look at this the contracts doled out this year.

That's the point Francois Gagnon made, which is pretty close to the truth imo. He said Feister wasn't in a position of power when it came to trade his guys. When you think of it, the guy went public saying he'd stand by his coach and almost explicitely said that he'd trade one of his guys to make cap room. Will be interesting to see how it pans out, same for the situation in philly and calgary.

In a salary cap system, the last thing you want is a guy with a huge salary.

It screws your team and you are forced to have a team with only one good line and a bunch of nobodies on the 3rd and 4th line. You can't go far with a team with no depth.

So I wouldn't do any of those proposals.

How did these guys ever coach in the NHL? At least we now know why they never became a GM.

I know Tampa isn't necessarily dealing from a position of strength, but come on. Potential free agents don't hold much trade value, especially for a guy like Lecavalier (tho he is still only a 70 point guy who doesn't show up every night).

We'd need to give up at least three first rounders I'm thinking and two legitimate players.

I'd consider:
Souray, Ryder, three first rounders for Vinny while their trade value is high. But I don't know if Tampa would go for a future UFA in Souray.

Practically everyone else on D for us is a UFA next year. So I don't think we're good as direct trade partners.

But if I was willing to trade all of that, I don't even know if I'd do it for Lecavalier. I might want to find a better player. I don't think Lecav could handle the pressure in Montreal. And he still doesn't use his size, speed and talent. He plays like a 5-9 player in a 6-4 body. He SEEMS to be what we need (big center), but I have my doubts about him.

In fact, I'd probably just sign a UFA if I was going to overspend on a player, and not give up assets.

Would have been nice to have overpaid for Jerome Iginla when Calgary was shopping him around a couple years ago. We might have won a Cup by now.

What I'm saying is, if we're gonna spend $7 mil on a player, he better damned well have heart.

You're right...

But 6.8m$ isn't sooo bad at all...

Honestly I would like to see Lecavalier in Montreal...

But I think a first round pick + Ryder or Samsonov and a prospect would be a big big payment for him...

He's really good, can play a decent 2-way game but he's a 30 to 40 goals scorer and 70 to 85 center... (90+ its not out of question)

But no way we will deal Andrei Markov + Michael Ryder + Carey Price...

Ryder + Markov + ??? May be but our D will be screwed up

Just a question without any relation on 110% hockey expert if we were going to trade for exemple souray + ryder to phyladelphia for their first round choice and jeff carter (remember that this is only an exemple and i know thats a bad one) so if we have flyers's first round choice and they finnish 30 in the league will it be the first overall pick ? or the draft ranking will be considered by our team standing

just wanted to know

Yes, it would be considered as a bottom 5 pick with lottery winning possibilities and would have no relation with the Habs standings at the end of the year.

Vinny can be had for Ryder and a 2nd.

It would be a bad deal too. Ryder could very well outscore Vinny, for about $5 million less.

Vinny has alot of potential, but the fact is he is a 70 pt player with a $7 million contract. It's one of the worst ones in hockey right now...People complain that Kovalev and Koivu are overpaid...yeesh!

I like Ryder's game, he's a hard worker with a nice nose for the net. He's improved during the summer as well, but Lecavalier is a significantly better player in every facet of the game.
