The Dogs will still be a young team but I think they should be a really fun team to watch. I mistakenly thought they were going to be good last year so I'm not making any those type predictions but lots of intriguing prospects.

Really pulling for Nystrom too.

Bench warmers. Grassi was pretty bad.

What's the point of signing a 24 years old forward (Courtnall) who got 9 points in 44 games in the ECHL to an AHL contract? Wheeling should be able to handle signings like this one by themselves.

Also this one-way deal given to Grassi kind of scares me. Last year, they gave a one-way to Corbin and it seems like they some kind of obligation to keep in Hamilton almost all year long.

I know those signings will be labelled as "depth" but I think that there were some better depth players available (i.e Dustin Walsh and Alex Belzile).

Well they have size.
So when we trade Desharnais and Gionta for picks, we will be able to bring size.

I don't see the harm since it costs nothing other then the Hamilton owner footing the bill. I assume Courtnall will be in the ECHL. Grassi might be better then Corbin but even if they keep him up all year it doesn't matter as long as he's not taking away from the prospects.

Just found out that Stephan Lebeau is the new assistant for the Dogs. Is there any way he could be a player/coach?

Still no word on Tokarski, camp is only a few weeks away. Really hope that Mayer is not the starting goalie for the Dogs or it's going to be a long season in Hamilton.

Don't worry, we have Condon for a little extra protection.

Yeah but that's really stretching it a bit thin, don't you think?

What is the problem with signing Tokarski. I thought last year he was a good prospect for TB...and then they trade him for nothing.
Is he another "problem child"???

Could be Russ Courtnall's son.

EDIT: After checking Eliteprospects his father is indeed Geoff.

no clue why he hasn't been signed yet but I hope they get it done soon. I haven't heard of any problems with him but with the way he's been handled by the Habs makes me think there is some sort of issue.

yes, he's a UFA. I'd sign him but I'm guessing the Habs aren't interested.

me too, plus he was great at sticking up for his teammates, a true leader that would be good for all the young D's we currently have.

Personally I don't know understand the plan here, if things remain as is, going with a defense made up of all rookies and 2nd year players along with Mayer/Condon/Delmas in net sounds like a repeat of last season but worse.
