Mtl-NAS proposal

To Mtl: Scottie Upshall

To Nsh: Sheldon Souray and choice of Maxim Lapierre or Jonathan Ferland

Fair? Awful?

I think you could use another top 4 d-man since you have already a lot of offensive punch.

Second offer:

To Mtl: Scott Hartnell

To Nsh: Sheldon Souray, Maxim Lapierre/Jonathan Ferland and 2nd round pick

Thoughts?

Upshall is more tradeable to us than Hartnell, who has been one of our best players this year. Again, I like Souray more than most, but we can't afford to add that much salary, and we just don't need him as much as we may have thought we did.

What would you want for Upshall?

We are happy with keeping him....but if you give us your 1st rounder in 2007.....you may be able to get our attention.

We are 9-0-1 over the last 10 games....."if it ain't broke, why fix it"....

And what about Maxim Lapierre and 07 2nd?

I haven't seen him play, but on paper it looks like something to study a little deeper as a possibilty. Upshall definitely has the higher upside, but the addtitional 2nd rounder makes it intriguing, nonetheless.

Let me tell you something...

You'll be a poster with a thousand of posts in a few years. However, you will never be a good poster.

You should explain why my proposal is awful. If you suceed, you'll then have to make one. After that, I'll consider your answer.

Lapierre is playing well since the beginning of the year with the Bulldogs. I see him like an energy player with some offensive upside. The kind of player who will never put a lot of points but who will be really valuable to his team.

You asked fair or awful, and he answered awful...What do you expect? Granted, i would want more of an answer as well....Still, no need to get snappy or proclaim him incapable of being a "good poster".

I would not make that trade because we have a lot of forward uncertainty heading into next season due to Kariya and Hartnell's impending free agency, and Upshall would be a nice cheap scoring winger that we could plug in immediately.

Sorry for the guy but we are on these boards to DISCUSS about hockey.

I was not bashing him at all. I just wanted him to know that he should explain his answers if he wants to get some credibility out there.

I don't consider myself as a good poster but at least, I explain my opinions (even if I'm right or not).

Do you think Hartnell could be avalaible by the deadline and what would he cost?

I can't imagine him being available simply because two things would have to happen. We'd probably have to be out of the playoffs by then AND Hartnell would basically be wanting out. I could see the second possibly happening, but I can't see them both occurring together.
