Thanks I will keep that in mind, but my comment was irrelevant to this topic haha.. 'y u havea my frag as your countree'?

From your knowledge though, is there any chance of Yakupov making the team? It would be awesome if most of the Oilers attending camp made their respective countries teams.

I personally think that chances are next to non-existent, barring injury of Kovalchuk/Ovechkin/Radulov/Semin. i'm fairly confident that Bilyaletdinov will want two scoring lines and two hard-working lines, and our top-6 wings are stacked. Nail won't be called up to play bottom six, Bill prefers to have players he 100% trusts there, while Yak is pretty much an unknown commodity for him so far.

I'm leaning towards Yak maybe not being there, but then look back at how Russia views their really high draft picks. Kovalchuk's rookie NHL season, played on the Olympic team. Both Ovechkin and Malkin played on the Olympic teams in their NHL rookie seasons as well, although they had an extra year because of the lockout I think. If Yak has a good start to the season, for some reason I think Russia may put him on the team. They love their high end talent. I'd hate to think he'd be treated any differently because of which part of the country he comes from or for any other reason.

very different coaching system now. Bilyaletdinov has the final word in naming the roster, not the GM, not Tretiak, only the boss himself. from my knowledge of his style i assume that he won't be counting on Nail if he has enough more familiar players. Yak has to absolutely crash and burn prime Ovechkin style from the very start to have a chance to displace any usual suspect for the Top-6, and i find this unlikely. chances are really scarce, but everything is in his own hands. if he REALLY shows that he can make a case for himself, he won't be overlooked, but he ought to absolutely impress.

I'd really like to see a
Hall-Tavares-Eberle line at this years Olympics. They were great in the WJC.

?... Tavares and Hall have never played in the WJC together.

Eberle played with Tavares in 2009 WJC but only on the PP and when in need of a goal (e.g. The 'Destiny Panics' goal in the Semis).

Not suggesting they wouldn't be a good line though.

Apparently 11 players are locks, Gregor picked his 11 who would yours be?

I can't actually disagree with Gregor's 11.

Rick Nash, Really? As a lock not so much, my 11 would look like this.

Shea Weber
Drew Dought
Brent Seabrook
Duncan Keith
Kris Letang
Sidney Crosby
Jonathan Toews
Steven Stamkos
John Tavares
Corey Perry
Ryan Getzlaf

Nash having that past experience as a checker seemed like a pretty decent arguement. It's pretty tough as a whole though.

I guess, I find him overrated on the whole, and if he weren't on the team, Canada wouldn't exactly be suffering.

looks like Ebs and Hall might be back-up forwards at this point.

If Shultz tears it up, he has a shot at being a back-up defender.

edit: On Shultz, I think he has the offensive upside of Niedermayer.

Team Canada can't possibly lose with a winner like Kevin Lowe on board.

I heard he knows a lot about winning.

Coincidentally both won on NHL-sized ice surfaces. What happens when Canada's best NHL players are forced to play on internationally standardized IIHF-sized surfaces? They don't even medal. Twice.

to be fair, Lowe is 2 for 3 gold medals in his time as Olympic advisor. In the other one, team canada was missing neidermeyer and pronger played on one leg.

If those two were healthy, we probably win a third gold.

My absolute locks barring injury are:
(not actual lines)

Stamkos - Crosby -
Giroux - Tavares -
- Toews -

Weber - Doughty
Keith -

Luongo

Then add in guys who I think have a very good shot at being there (close to locks):

Stamkos - Crosby - St. Louis
Giroux - Tavares - Bergeron
- Getzlaf - Perry
- Toews -

Weber - Doughty
Keith - Pietrangelo

Luongo
Price

Then add in my final roster with a bit of homerism:

Stamkos - Crosby - St.Louis
Hall - Tavares - Giroux
E. Staal - Getzlaf - Perry
Couture - Toews - Bergeron
Eberle
HM: Duchene, Ladd (although one or both of M. Richards or R. Nash seems likely to be on the roster)

Weber - Doughty
Keith - Pietrangelo
Hamhuis - Subban
Letang
HM: Bouwmeester, Seabrook

Luongo
Price
Crawford

Hall should be on the team since he is probably the best natural LW from Canada. Eberle might make it due to his past loyalty and history with team Canada.

I kinda figured Bergeron is a lock if he's healthy.
