A force to be reckoned with doesn't get 50 points.

JVR Burns swap would be the more interesting. Seems like it would of made sense when we had the wing depth. (Pre bernier trade.)

as an asset jvr>burns as a forward. If you value burns as a defensemen, like a team like toronto would, they are more even but i still wouldn't do them straight up, as jvr fills a hole as much as burns would.

Personally Burns > JVR. Burns size in the western conference is great. Jvr wouldn't do so hot in the west.

Despite that, i'd do an avatar bet based on ppg.

care to put your avy where your mouth is?
You're missing the point. Someone said JvR was a better forward than burns. We were talking about the centering them or any of that if Jvris the better forward he will I'll produce burns correct? I'm down for whatever I believe burns is the better forward over jvr

You mean worse than:

? Riveting argument, there!

Considering Leafs fan base vs Sharks fan base + East coast familiarity, I'd say that's a pretty good victory. Nevertheless, I never said it was lopsided.

You didn't specify value, so I assumed you were referring to who was better.

Toronto does this in order to acquire a strong complementary player to the roster in Burns. Coming to the Leafs, he is somewhat overpaid as he doesn't slot into the #1 slot on RW or D so San Jose sends the 2nd to compensate as such. Burns is also close to hitting his peak so San Jose sells at his highest possible value. Playing with guys like Kessel and Phaneuf should squeeze the last bit of potential that Burns has.

San Jose does this to signal the start of their rebuild process. They gain a great bargain in JM Liles who can fill in on the 2nd pairing and score a lot of points. They gain Franson who is young and full of potential coming off an amazing season. Kulemin is a rising force to be reckoned with and can hit 50 points carrying Thornton on the top line. The 1st Rounder also has the potential to be the #1 pick so there's great value in there for SJ. Franson and Kulemin also bring a ton of intangibles coming off of their playoff series. San Jose will lose in the short term in this deal but the potential coming there way makes this a premium package.
Sharks aren't going to rebuild. Doug Wilson stated they are going to retool and not rebuild. Liles was a buy out candidate for the Leafs. The Sharks are deeper at D than them. We don't want Franson. Kulemin wouldn't be with Thornton. I would rather have Burns with him. Every 1st rounder has "potential to be #1" just some have less than others. Toronto's wouldn't be 1st over all. It's not a premium package. There's almost no "potential" in this deal. We have no room for Franson. The package is a bottom pairing D, a D that we don't want, a third liner, and a middle to late first for a top pairing D and a top six winger. No.

Wish I got here earlier. OP of the year, hands down. Only question I ask is why this is in the serious part of the website?
