Toews vs. Backstrom vs. Kessel

Who's more valuable?

For the sake of argument, leave aside current team need. It's just about who you think is the more valuable player in a vacuum.

A better poll would be who scores more points in 2014.

Toews will be last based on points likely, but he's the best player here... Backstrom is very close though

What's the point in comparing 2 centers to a wing? Why not all centers or all wings, it would be more fair when discussing value. Centers >wingers value wise.

I don't think he'd be anywhere near PPG if it wasn't for Ovechkin

It's not random. I think Backstrom is on the same level As Toews, Kessel is not.

Backstrom >/= Kessel offensively
Backstrom >>> Kessel defensively.

Not all Cs are greater than all Ws value wise. If you prefer Cs, then that will factor into your evaluation. I chose these three players to settle something with a poster.

Toews
Backstrom

Not necessarily. Toews had a better PPG(same points) than Backstrom and that was with Backstrom playing in the worst possible defensive division in years. Toews had 42 non-PP points compared to Backstrom's 30 non-PP points and Kessel's 31 non-PP points. I think Toews could see a jump in PP points this year after the worst production there in his career. The stats show he was so ridiculously unlucky on the PP during the season.

Another factor is Toews won't be in a division with Red Wings(#5 in GAA) and the Colombus Blue Jackets(#8 in GAA/Vezina winner) but instead will add the Winnipeg Jets(24th in GAA), Colorado Avalanche(27th in GAA), Dallas Stars(25th in GAA) and the Minnesota Wild(16th in GAA). So he will have some crappy defensive teams to feast on like Backstrom is used to doing.

Really any of these players could finish with more points. I think the Eastern Conference players advantage for more points is getting smaller since they can't beat up on each other's terrible defensive teams(especially the embarrassing Southeast division).
