From Ottawa, I'd be interested in Turris or Wiercioch... and that's pretty much it.
you do know he was injured right

Risky move for both ends with Michalek's history of injuries and MoJo's inconsistency to play Top-6 minutes.

But hey, I don't wanna ruin the fun.

So was Johansson, who played in like 10 games with a concussion.

I like Michalek, but am not open to trading the likely best expendable asset for a guy who doesn't fill one of the two primary positions of need.

Michalek is an oft-injured player with one year remaining on his contract likely at a higher cap hit than Johansson. No deal from Washington. Not even close.

I'd expect a deal similar to the one that Hagelin signed. So no, it's not likely he makes north of $3M.

Last thing we need is a top 6 winger and especially someone like Michalek. Injuries, ufa, expects more money, older, and isn't an option for 2C

MM gets injured every year it seems because his knees swell up. Supposedly he had a operation to fix it this year though. Personally if i knew MM was going to be healthy and not make more then 5 mil i'd rather have him the MOJO. The sens are losing the better overall player and we could only hope MoJo develops into the quality the MM has. MM is an important part of our top line and brings great speed net presence and two way play. When you look at the big picture MM is one of the rarer types of players in the league and if it werent for injuries every year he'd probably be considered an elite winger.

Overpaid? Less points per game last year? Neither statement is correct. If you said you had an issue with injury concerns id give you that but you failed to mention that.

As for the deal I wouldn't do it. Ottawa needs Michalek's goal scoring ability ATM.

the Caps may like the upgrade, but may not want to add the pick
there you have the reason why the caps would very likely not even consider this trade.

you are trying to dump a player that is both unreliable in the lineup and a big cap hit for a player that played the last half of last season at a point per game and plays in all situations.

classic homer trade

Injury concerns was a part of "overpaid".

Not sure how you get that. Still don't think 4.333 million is alot for a guy who has never played less than 66 games (minus the shortened season) and will most likely pot 20+ goals and be above 50 points. Pretty good contract if I were to say so.

I suppose you think Martin Erat is overpaid as well.

Since when the points are the only indicator of whether a player is overpaid or not? Erat is solid defensively to go along with offensive production.

Anyway, trading MJ for one year of almost any player in the league is a no-no.

Michalek is one of the best defensive players in our conference.

Look in the mirror man.

Fine, the Caps don't want to make this trade. I 100% understand why, and initially I thought the Sens would need to add.

But Michalek is a better player right now. to suggest otherwise is homerish.

You don't know much about Michalek, obviously.

Caps needs are a 2C and a 4D. Michalek is neither of those and all indications are that Orlov is the leading candidate for that 4D spot right now. That plus MM's injury history, UFA status, and massive salary make this an easy no-go from the Caps perspective.
