Because people under 30 are already past their prime? I guess Gaborik being over 30 and not hitting 40 one season then hitting it the next is cause for a nuclear explosion?

If all goes well?

35-40 goals.

if he struggles a bit

30-35

If the Rangers PP clicks and the 2nd line produces alot of chances, I can see Nash getting 40+

If the Queen had balls, she'd be the King.

I keep seeing people mention thsi offensive system thatw e are going to be playing.

Either I may have missed some inside joke, or there are some here that are going to be VERY disappointed in how we actually play this season.

AV was clear, if the play is there to make, make it. If not, chip it behind. Meaning make the plays you can make, dump the puck when you can't.

Vancouver was known for a few years as one of the stingest teams ot play against and it wasn't until the Sedins (we have no one as good as either player) developed that they started opening things up a bit.

Sans the Twins, I fail to see this Rangers team "opening" things up to the point where Nash is a given to improve his career numbers.

I would venture a guess that 35 is what we can expect from Nash this season.

AV is neither an offensive-focused coach nor a defensive-focused coach. He's certainly not run-and-gun. His teams tend to have strong Fenwick rankings (possession stat) when down or tied but lower Fenwick rankings when in the lead or late in close games. His "big" innovation is putting his best defensive line on the ice for defensive zone draws and his best offensive line on the ice for offensive zone draws. I understand some people are excited about not watching Tortorella hockey but it's not like AV is some offensive guru.

Nash will probably be good for 40+. At least thats what you have to expect from him.

Some of them are parodying a similar thread that popped up the summer Torts was hired...

i'd say around 40 is what you have to hope for. ima pluck 39 out of thin air. 39-43-82. ppg pace.

Oh absolutely! And on the other coast the Sedin's will struggle to break 50 points.

I give you the Tortorella Canucks!

I'm worried he's going to struggle a bit... teams will key in on him, exactly the way the B's did in the play-offs.

This great offensive system where it's "score by comittee" better really be impressive.

I know! Some high expectations here!

Being conservative, I expect somewhere around 35. Of course who he plays with will affect this a bit as well as other factors. AV doesn't run that much of an offensive system.

What?! Ehm nono and no to the nuclear explosion, whereever that came from.

Let's have a look at stats here. Nash is 29 ... which isn't very far from 30. He hasn't scored 40 in 4 seasons now, plus his point totals dropping constantly, not much, but they do. Which all in all is a decline by his standards.

All I am saying is, if doesn't bring it to the table this year, we can wait a long time for it. Gaborik is a non-issue here.

Would you arrive that Stepan should center Nash and someone else, and have Richards play a lower C or move Richards to a wing if other C's prevail?

even if that's the case I still would rather have Nash with Stepan. Brassard and Nash looked like they don't know each other, and Richards wasn't that much better.

Stepan forms chemistry with everyone because he's an incredibly intelligent player. I think he's a better fit with Nash than Brassard is because Stepan doesn't need the puck on his stick all the time. Nash and Brassard like to carry it. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Pouliot on a line with Stepan and Nash just so he can crash the net all the time and create space for the other two.
