St Louis? Greene? Boyle? MacDonald? All were considered undersized.

You're still comparing a Mini Cooper to a Smart Car.

I get that Sergey is nothing right now, please let me know when we can sign a player as good as St Louis @ 18 who was undrafted.

My point being, of those players who made it, at least the ones he pointed out, quite a few were undersized. No surprise there, not many of them make it. My main point was, and still is; the kid has quite a bit of offensive talent and he knows where to go to score goals and set up plays. He skates very well and is elusive with and without the puck. For nothing more than an ELC, I see no risk.

I'm not trying to make the argument that we shouldn't sign him. I'm just supporting the idea that he's a long shot to ever earn more than a cup of coffee in the NHL.

Edit: And I guess people missed it, but I posted a tweet on the prior page that indicates that carolina is looking to sign him. So whether or not we want to sign him may soon become moot.

oh i agree. completely

the question was there were guys who went undrafted that have had good/great careers.

the reason that tolch wasnt drafted was simply based on his lack of a projectable frame. skills wise, hes top notch. size wise, hes got legit issues.

the nhl drafting process has a heard mentality. it is what it is.

Just an FYI, the Hurricanes signed Tolchinsky to a 3 year entry level contract today.

so he is bound for his first NHL point (goal or assist) vs Rangers..

knowing Rangers luck watch him get a hat trick in his first game vs Rangers

watch him become another Zuccarello..

Rangers wanted an extra look. Canes didn't need one. Too bad. Not a huge deal though.

I hope he does. Zucc is a nice player, but he's not a huge difference maker. If Tolchinsky can carve out an NHL career for himself, good on him.

his extreme smallness may very well outweigh his awesomeness potential on the ice.

i fear for his safety but i hope he kicks ass.

i still prefer our "smallish" russian pavel buchnevich.

waiting for the first of many "mcilrath will kill tolchinsky" posts in 3...2...1...
