I think 40 is attainable, especially if Stepan keeps up his play from last season. 35 is a realistic bet, though.

Seriously though, I just want to re-iterate and emphasize the point of how good Hagelin-Stepan-Nash were as a line last season. The only reason I can see for breaking them up, other than having to do so because the other lines struggled massively, is dementia.

That line was up there with Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin, Sedin-Sedin-Burrows, Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis, Saad-Towes-Hossa, and Brown-Kopitar-Williams. Clearly ahead of Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry and Johansson-Bäckström-Ovechkin, and miles ahead of Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek and Moulson-Tavares-Boyes.

If we look at the centers (adjusted for zone starts):

Stepan:
With Nash: GF%: 73.9%, CF%: 53.4%
With Hagelin: GF%: 83.3%, CF%: 57.1%

Bergeron:
With Seguin: GF%: 80.8%, CF%: 62.4%
With Marchand: GF%: 78.6%, CF%: 62.1%

Sedin:
With Daniel: GF%: 65.1%, CF%: 61.3%
With Burrows: GF%: 70.6%, CF%: 60.8%

Crosby:
With Kunitz: GF%: 75.0%, CF%: 57.0%
With Dupuis: GF%: 70.7%, CF%: 57.5%

Toews:
With Hossa: GF%: 76.7%, CF%: 59.2%
With Saad: GF%: 70.6%, CF%: 58.4%

Kopitar:
With Brown: GF%: 60.5%, CF%: 61.0%
With Williams: GF%: 65.8%, CF%: 64.0%

Stepan's line lags a bit in possession but makes up for it in actual goal differential. I'd say they were at least top 5 last year, maybe even 2nd behind Boston's dominant line.

So to come back to the topic of this thread, if that line can click again and stay together, Nash will almost certainly score 40+ goals in a full season. Let's hope our bottom-9 can keep it together.

I'm curious if he will show up in the next PO. If we get there. That's what i'm worried about.

Yep. Almost forgot Nash will be playing for the offensive wizard.

When did we trade for a legit #1C?

They drafted one in 2008. He is currently with the team.

Come on, bro, if you're gonna watch the team, know the players and roster.

Either I may have missed some inside joke, or there are some here that are going to be VERY disappointed in how we actually play this season.

AV was clear, if the play is there to make, make it. If not, chip it behind. Meaning make the plays you can make, dump the puck when you can't.

Vancouver was known for a few years as one of the stingest teams ot play against and it wasn't until the Sedins (we have no one as good as either player) developed that they started opening things up a bit.

Sans the Twins, I fail to see this Rangers team "opening" things up to the point where Nash is a given to improve his career numbers.

I would venture a guess that 35 is what we can expect from Nash this season.
Objective post; couldn't agree more!

I know whom you were referring to but Stepan isn't a legit #1C. Richards is if he rebounds though!

#2C definitely; he isn't a legit #1C but may have to be our's by default.

Brad Richard absolutely was and may still be a legit #1C if he come's into camp in shape and has a rebound year. Stepan, who I love, just isn't a legit #1C for an 82 game schedule!

Okay. Cool. That's you saying that. You also said that Stepan is nothing more than a 3C, so I tend to take your opinion, especially when it comes to Stepan, with a grain of salt.

Stepan was obviously much better than Richards was last year and he became our #1C by default. I don't see him as a legir #1C over an 82 game schedule; it would be like feeding him to the sharks!

No it won't. He learns every year and improves and has insane hockey sense/IQ. I think he improves again. But anyway this is about Nash.

Drew, do you think Couture is a #1 center?

You would Stepan around Bergeron's level? Bergeron has been in the league since 2003(he made it right out of the draft as an 18 year old); he has gone over 70 point 3 times, has won a cup, a selke as the best defensive forward and he is the #1 faceoff guy in the league! With all due respect, Stepan would be a 3C on the Bruins right now behind Bergeron and Krejci, both who are way better than Stepan is right now!

If I were you, I would either rethink your expectations or wake up to reality because Stepan isn't in the same stratosphere as Bergeron is.

Quit changing my words around dude; all I stated was that Stepan would be the #3C on the Bruins behind both Bergeron and Krejci.

If in your divine madness you think he would play ahead of those 2 guys, you need to take up another sport to follow!

I only deal with reality and the reality is that Stepan is a #2C at best!

I'm sure not having to block a shot every other game will really unleash his offense.

Are you serious? I mean come on, I like Stepan's development but he's nowhere near Bergeron's level yet, keyword being yet. PB is top 3 in regards to 2 way centers go. Some people around here really go extreme, good and bad. I guess the truth falls somewhere in the middle

because all teams have #2 centers who are top 15 in scoring while being defensively responsible
