With Liles and Rielly around, it really makes Franson's positioning and not choosing arbitration more than a little odd. He must have known what the Leafs thought of him and what kind of contract they wanted to give him so why not take the guaranteed raise. Why in the world did he think he could squeeze a home run contract out of the Leafs? For Kadri, it's reasonable to assume he might get more on a hold out due to the organizational depth at center, but with Franson, not only do the Leafs have a more than capable vet in Liles but a potential super rookie in Rielly. He'll, Rielly is probably better than Franson now.
