Well not a bad signing but there's too much D-men right now injury or not. We already have Tinordi (NHL ready IMO), Beaulieu and Pateryn for call-ups so I wouln't be surprised if someone (Diaz?) is eventually dealt like during training camp

Oh hell yeah. Very happy to hear this. Watched him quite a bit with the Pens last year. It's true that he isn't the fastest skater out there, but his cons were way overblown, in my opinion. Still a great defensive minded guy that can throw some punishing hits.

Love it! As a #6, he's a solid pick-up.

I don't think that's the issue. Top 4 isn't in the conversation. I don't think he's an effective bottom pairing defenceman at this point.

Ok thanks for the info.

He brings good toughness at the defense. Might not be the fastest skater, but we cried for a d-man who is able to clear the crease. That's exactly what Murray will do for the habs.

200+ hits and 150 + shots blocked / year.

Overall, I think this is a good signing.

Lets say Tinordi outplays Bouillon at the camp, do you think MB has the balls to waive Cube and send him to the AHL? I think him and DD are interchangeable and I'd keep DD over him for size and cap relief. Bouillon would help the Bulldogs defense a lot and could be a great mentor for a young team.

1 thing I like about him is that he drives Chris Neil nuts. Laughed in Neil's face all playoffs

Pretty much a more physical Hal Gill, is the impression I'm getting here.

YES!

Very happy about that. People here are really quick to dismiss Douglas Murray and are too critical of him. He's a very good bottom-pairing defenseman, for a minimal price, and allows us to not rush any youngster.

VERY happy about this one. It makes us significantly tougher

So this garbage player, as some would say in this thread, fetched a second-round draft pick and a 2014 conditional second-round draft pick for the Sharks?

Him and Diaz should be great bottom pair. Better than Bouillon and Diaz that's for sure.

Like I said Murray and Bouillon can split duties being the 6th 7th dmen, depending on match ups.

A guy like Tinordi is a lock as long as he doesn't **** the bed in training camp, and if Bouillon is playing great, then I guess Murray becomes the 7th dmen.

Now trade DD for a 2nd to someone and add Kyle Clifford for a 2nd. Roster would then be complete.

Unless he ***** the bed in camp, Tinordi is on this team. The Murray signing just puts Bouillon and DD to their role before the Emelin injury being the 7th 8th dmen.
What's the positive of having him in the press box. Might as well let him possibly captain the Dogs team as #1 D.

We'll probably see something like:

Markov - Subban
Gorges - Diaz
Bouillon - Murray
Drewiske
IR: Emelin

I think Gorges might be forced to play right again.

Markov - Gorges

I like it. Good term and decent enough cap hit for what he will be. Should be a useful #5/#6.

Didnt get the memo? Unless we sign Lidstrom every defenceman we could sign is garbage.

Thats how HFboards roll.

We don't need Clifford. Parros Prust, Murray, White, Moen, Tinordi....

We have more than enough toughness.

Well look at that. Not so long ago, we were told on this forum that signing Briere would prevent Bergevin from addressing need on defense and other needs up front. Who would have thought?

Since Emelin is out, we won't count him for now, if Daiz is dealt, who I would love to trade, another dmen needs to be added to have 8 dmen and I already included Tinrodi. I think Tinordi is the only young guy NHL ready.

The fact that he was traded by a playoff-bound, contending team at the deadline says at least as much.

Murray is a #5/#6 D on any team in this league. He can be #6 everywhere in this league. He's a step above guys like Drewiske, Bouillon, and on par with what Emelin can give to this team.

He's underrated around here. I see him as a good #5 for us.

Actually no, we were missing a dmen with the Emelin injury, so anyone who knew that could see there was room for a dmen, as for forwards we are full at 13, anyone forward signed, means another forwards needs to go.
