I just don't want Tinordi in the AHL...

He is NHL ready. Better than Bouillon, Drewiske.

Glad we got a slower Hal Gill. Clearly we were too mobile and needed to step back a bit.

We'll probably see something like:

Markov - Subban
Gorges - Diaz
Bouillon - Murray
Drewiske
IR: Emelin

I think Gorges might be forced to play right again.

Markov - Gorges
Murray is 3 steps above Drewiske.

agreed bottom pairing , he is fine , brings an edge

too many D , something has to give at some point

Then when someone gets hurt and the rookies under-perform, we'll be crying to get a defenceman.

There is no such thing as too many defencemen, especially when you propose to get rid of a puck mover to make room for a bruiser. If Markov goes down, then you'd only have Subban.

If Tinordi is to spend another year in the AHL, I don't mind if it,s someone like Murray replacing him.

I am okay with this signing, if Therien can resist the urge to play Murray and Bouillon together. If not, Price... I'm sorry. It will be a rough night.

As long as he's playing bottom-pairing minutes, I'm cool with this deal. His speed is shot and he has no offensive skills whatsoever (more like offensive deficiencies, to be blunt), but he does clear the crease and hit people.

Plus, it is only one year, so I don't see any negatives.

Why o said press box, Bouillon Murray can split time being if Tinordi makes it, the list you have has 7dmen, not counting Emelin who is hurt, so another dmen has to be added, Mtl goes with 8dmen 13 forwards....2 of Bouillon DD and Murray will just sit..

It's already starting! Please do not encourage this.

Seriously, Murray is slower than a tortoise with a leg cramp. Whoever he plays with may find themselves having to defend by their lonesome whilst he catches up. If that player is Bouillon... well, like I said. Price is in for a rough night.

I guess Bergevin wanted to get this done before Partisan du CH gets to the defenseman
Lol... yeah, cause we really could have used Murray in July...

Wtf does this even mean?

Dare I also note that the posters arguing for Lapierre in another thread because he would 'improve our PK, which is a glaring need' aren't really brining up the fact that:

Exactly what I was just thinking. Diaz can do more than enough puck carrying/moving for the both of them, and Murray can handle more than enough of the tough stuff in our own end for both of them. I'd run that as a 3rd pairing, for sure.

Markov - Subban
Tinordi - Gorges
Murray - Diaz
Bouillon

I think I'd be fine with that for a while. When Emelin returns it gets interesting though:

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Murray - Diaz
Bouillon (Tinordi can't be sitting as a 7th guy)

As long as we don't end up seeing Bouillon-Drewiske, I'll be happy.

People complaining about the price or term? It's 1 year at 1.5 million. There is nothing left in free agency worth 3 mil, so this does absolutely nothing to the habs cap space.

Fills a need at minimum cost, and IF the habs don't make the playoffs, he's good trade value. The habs gain a veteran hard hitting dman (unfortunately not top 4) without sacrificing anything! Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I see Murray and tinordi both making the lineup.

Gorges Subban
Markov Tinordi
Murray Diaz

Nobody said that...

To sign a dman, you only need cap space and a roster spot. Habs had both even after the Briere signing.

Your defending of the Briere signing is borderline obsessive at this point.

Anyway, good move by MB. Our D is now more balanced and it will be easier to cope with injuries. And depending on injuries and Tinordi's progression, Murray or Drewski could be tradeable assets at the deadline.

Perfect signing for our needs. I like that we'll be able to start with 8D, like that we have Murray's size/physicality back there. It was needed.

Not good news for Dumont or any other 14th forward who wanted to try to make the team, mind you.

Younger, tougher, cheaper, and on a shorter term than the Hal Gill we got before.
