There won't be a move until Emelin returns. There is still some concern that Markov can stay healthy despite the fact he played a lot of hockey last year (21 games in the KHL and 48 games regular season plus playoffs).

That of course can change if one of Emelin or Beaulieu force Bergevin's hand, but in that case it may just be Boullion or Drewskie to waivers.

Drewiski should be waived, I don't even understand his signing to begin with.

a Gorges for Stastny base swap makes sense for both teams, perhaps around Christmas

Drewisky isn't as bad as people think !! He's a 6-7 but he's really the number 7 many team want , he's physical , play ok defensively ... + and most important he's cheap !! At 600k I take him any day as my number 7 !!

No it doesn't, habs are more stacked at center than on defense.

Brière for Stastny makes more sense for habs, none for avs

Don't be surprised if Murray rides pine as your 7th D halfway (read: after about 6 games) through the season.

Bergevin loves extra defencemen. Injuries will happen and the prospects will take their time.

A soon to be UFA for our best defensive defenceman?

Gorges to TB for their 1st if it can be had. Thinking they'll have an awful year with adjusting to Vinny being out of the picture.

Murray brings size and toughness as long with a mean streak.

Bouillon brings nothing.

Bouillon should be first to ride the pine.

Therrien hilariously thinks Cube brings something to the powerplay.

Sadly it's true, but I hope Bergevin sees past that and trades Cube to some ECHL team.

You'd rather dress Davis Drewiske than Josh Gorges as part of a plan to have success in the playoffs? Good god. Do you even remember 2010 when Gorges was an absolute warrior in the playoffs? You pretty much just ruined your credibility with that statement.

Back to the topic of the thread, a lot of the Habs defenceman have clear injury histories, so there's really no rush to make a move until Emelin is back (which might be around game 25-30). More AHL time won't hurt Tinordi even though he may be ready. He was good in the A last year, but still inconsistent at times and certainly not dominant.

If it ever gets to the point where everyone is healthy and the kids are showing that they are truly ready on the farm sometime in late November-Early December, then you can start the trade watch. It may even be Murray himself who is dealt for all we know.

Murray is a good insurance policy that will allow to evaluate properly Tinordi's readiness and Beaulieu's progress without being obliged to throw them in strictly because of Emelin's pending return or any other injury.

Upon Emelin's return, if Murray has not pulled a Moen(...), that Tinordi has performed well, and that there are no pending injuries, expect MB to move some of his UFA's, especially Markov who can fetch a good return and perhaps Diaz who IMO has not shown much when it counts, but that some think that he is a top 4.

I think they may trade Diaz for a bottom 6 forward.

The problem is == he's probably the 10th D-Man at the moment...

Bouillon is still much better than Drewiske. And might have some uses again, mainly because he'S noticeably faster than any other option we have for 6th D-Man.

Actually, a Bouillon / Murray pairing would be funny as hell to watch. Too bad both are LHS.

And you may have him by trade deadline. I don't think Magnus Nygren will play in the AHL very long. He just won best defensmen in the Swedish league and has one heck of a cannon shot on the power-play which would give the Habs a pretty good 1-2 punch with Subban.

Habs won't be moving out any d-men. Bergevin has said many times that he values depth on defence and right now we've got 8 NHL guys, one of which is coming off surgery and won't be ready for the first 2 months of the season.

No problem keeping Tinordi and Beaulieu in the AHL for another year.

Except, you know, playing defense. Bouillon is clearly a better defenseman than both Murray and Drewiske.

It's funny how the fans of every team seem to think they need to trade away defencemen. Funny how most teams are running with 8 or 9 in the stable at this point and dont seem to think it's a problem.

MTL will start the season with:

Subban
Markov
Gorges
Murray
Bouillon
Diaz

Drewiskie - AHL
Tinordi - AHL
Beaulieu - AHL

So no reason to move anyone at this point. Tinordi and Beaulieu will get called up if there are any more injuries. When Emelin returns my guess would be Bouillon would be put on waivers or Diaz will be moved.
