All of this depends on how Jones/Ekholm/Ellis/Bartley look at camp, but I see pros and cons to both ideas. Personally, I vote for a Weber-Josi pairing because IMO we need to maximize the time Weber gets on the ice. He is our team, so I want him out there 30 minutes per game. If one of Ekholm or Jones finds chemistry with Klein, great, play them there. If not, you have to look at Glen's idea.

Even with my idea Weber will still get the minutes because of PP and PK time.

His minutes, as well as Josi's, are maximized with them as a pairing.

Maybe so but if you split them up you are assured one of them or Klein is always on the ice.

Linus Omark is rumored to be signing with an NHL team in the next week (probably an inexpensive deal in the 1 million range) after playing in Europe last year due to problems with Edmonton.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...return-to-nhl/

High end talent, posted 27 points in 51 games with Edmonton as a 23 year-old - I'd love to see this Swede on the Preds.

No room for him. Plus Edmonton still owns his rights.

Signing Gomez, I'm thinking Florida is out. Goc/Shore/Matthias/Bjugstad/Gomez all up the middle.

As an RFA - sign him to a 1 mil contract and you owe Edmonton nothing.

Omark is a winger, and with his top-6-or-bust mold, I figure they are one of the few teams that can offer him top 6 minutes.

For whatever reason, I thought we were still talking about Grabovski. Disregard.

Using that logic, we may as well go one defender and three forwards on the PK just to always have one of those three players on the ice. We need at least two good pairings, not a collection of good defenders playing solo. We have our top pairing with Weber and Josi. Now to see if Jones fits the role alongside Klein.

10 goals in 48 games last year for Boyes ... no thanks, I'd rather go with the kids, damn has he really lived off his 2nd & 3rd season in the NHL

Belarus TV-channel ONT reports Mikhail Grabovski will sign contract with #Caps today

Well, there goes that... (not that I thought we'd get him)

so apparently Grabovski signed a one year deal with Washington... which if that was all he was willing to sign, wouldnt have been worth our time.. we are better off giving one of the youngsters a lineup spot for this year

Yeah...I agree. The only thing that had me take a second look at Grabo is that he's a center. If it came down to it, I'd rather move Wilson to center if needed.

at this point we cant trade Ekholm without adding someone on D.

plus I dont know much about Johansson but unless he's a substantial upgrade on Beck I wouldnt want to bump Beck further down the ladder.

Johansson would be a nice addition, but the value all depends on how good a player we have in Ekholm. This move would have to be followed by signing a bottom pairing D-man, since it would lock in Ellis/Bartley as the bottom pair, and our 7th/call-up would be...who...Jarvinen?

Talk about Johansson and Hainsey are lateral moves at best. No thank you.
